The Frasier revival will officially see the return of Roz Doyle as Peri Gilpin. Paramount+'s efforts to bring back the snooty psychiatrist on the small screen are slowly showing some payoff despite a tumultuous pre-production phase. Now, the Frasier revival is approaching its fourth-month filming, with a release date set for later this year.

Per Deadline, Gilpin has boarded the Paramount+ project. This marks the first original Frasier character to return for the reboot aside from Kelsey Grammer. Not much else has been revealed about the specifics of Roz's return, but a reunion between the KACL co-workers is enough to make fans really excited.

Why Roz's Return Is Very Important To The Frasier Reboot

It's no secret that before Paramount+ picked up the project, Grammer had been shopping the Frasier revival for years. Even after it was announced, the reboot continued to struggle with a series of setbacks, including the difficulty of determining the show's premise. Once Grammer and his writers landed on a story, things started to run smoother for the Frasier revival.

Still, there is some skepticism about the endeavor since none of the Seattle-based show's main cast signed up for the Frasier revival when Grammer first approached them. While seeing Bebe Neuwirth return as Lilith is promising, she isn't technically an original cast member. Now that Gilpin is confirmed to reprise her role as Roz, Frasier fans who aren't exactly enticed by the reboot have something concrete to look forward to.

Considering the Frasier revival's new location, it's curious if it means that Roz will also be based in Boston two decades after the Seattle-set show ended. There's no mention of Gilpin being a series regular, which could mean she may have limited involvement in the show. Regardless, this is still good news considering how important Roz's friendship was to Frasier.
