Kelsey Grammer, star of the hit TV sitcom Frasier, says the reboot of his iconic series may release in early 2022. For 11 seasons, Grammer played the eponymous psychiatrist, Dr. Frasier Crane, as he returned to his Seattle roots to start a new life as a radio advice show host. Frasier received universal acclaim from critics and went on to earn thirty-seven Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as five consecutive Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Grammer's popular character first debuted in the third season of Cheers. While Frasier was originally only intended to appear in a few episodes, Grammer's performance was so well received by the show's producers that they expanded his role throughout the remaining eight seasons. After Cheers ended, Grammer would portray his Frasier character in a spin-off series under the same name as the fictional psychiatrist. In addition, Dr. Crane also made several appearances outside of Cheers and Frasier, such as appearing in an episode of WingsMickey's 60th Birthday, and even a Dr. Pepper TV commercial. In total, Grammer has portrayed his beloved character on the silver screen for over twenty years, and it seems he is poised to bring the character back.

During an interview with Collider, Grammer reveals that the Parmount+ Frasier reboot may release in early 2022. When asked when the new Paramount+ series would start filming, Grammer stated that they do not have a current date scheduled for filming as the story is still being polished for now. However, with the show only in the early stages of pre-production, Grammer still thinks the Frasier reboot could debut in "the first quarter of next year." In addition, concerning returning cast members for the new series, Grammer offered up:

"We think we’re going to get most of the actors back, I’m certainly hopeful that we will, and I’m fairly confident that they’ll come back... We have a story to tell — that can actually be told with or without them, honestly — but I want them back because that’s what I always dreamed of. I thought we should explore all their lives in their third act, and so that is my hope.”

While Grammer hopes the previous Frasier cast will return for the revival series, the new Paramount+ show isn't entirely cast-dependent, meaning the story that sparked the new idea won't fail if beloved characters don't come back. This fact could help the series meet that early 2022 goal that Grammer predicted during his interview. In addition, since the new show will follow Frasier's "third act" as he transitions from radio host to a new job, the story sets up the possibility of meeting new characters and possibly new celebrity cameos Frasier was always known for.

For years, rumors of a Frasier revival circulated networks, getting hopeful fans excited at the prospect of seeing their favorite fictional psychiatrist back on TV. Since the original show ended in 2004, many "Must See TV" series from NBC has seen a resurgence in recent years, such as the Friends reunion and the Will & Grace revival. Finally, with nearly two decades since its last season, it seems that the long-awaited Frasier reboot is nearly here.
