Fox has dropped a trailer for its new reality tv show Labor of Love and it's wild. In this show, the men aren't competing for a date or even a proposal, but for the chance to father a child.

Let's be honest. It's hard to be shocking in the world of reality TV. One of the largest franchises in the dating show genre is The Bachelor, which has single people competing for a potential husband or wife. There are shows like Married at First Sight, where people actually get married sight unseen. Netflix has a new show where singles are paid not to hook up. In the world of reality TV dating shows, anything goes. And yet still viewers were immediately on social media talking about the commercial for Fox's new show Labor of Love. It aired during the much more family-friendly show The Masked Singer.

What makes this show so unbelievable is that in a landscape where commit phobia reigns supreme, they have found a group of men willing to go a step further than looking for a relationship. They have found 15 men interested in looking for not only love but also instant fatherhood. Hosted by Sex and the City star Kristin Davis, Labor of Love follows 41-year-old Kristy Katzmann on her journey to find love and have a baby. Viewers will follow Katzmann, a successful career woman who just hasn't found the right person but is ready to have a child, on an eight-episode journey to see if any of the like-minded men is right for her or if she'd rather continue on her journey of parenthood alone.

The men will compete to see who is the most compatible but that's not all they will be assessed on. They will face weekly challenges to test their potential parenting skills as well. From the looks of the trailer they aren't going to make it easy on them. The trailer shows them being hooked up to machines that show them what it's like to actually endure labor. It's hard to imagine what else they have in store for her potential partners. Fox has us hooked already.

In an already crowded field of relationship reality TV, this is in a league of its own. People are thinking outside of the box in their quest to find the one. It only makes sense that a successful woman who wants to be a mother but has a limited time frame would be willing to try something like this. As spectators, it will be a fun ride whether it proves fruitful or not. The most disappointing part of this is that we have to wait until May 21 for the Labor of Love premiere.
