FOX Fall 2012 Premiere Dates Announced

Ed Weeks Mindy Kaling Chris Messina The Mindy Project FOX

Even though we're just entering the official launch of summer, the lure of the fall television season is now upon us. Despite plenty of summer series like Falling Skies, True Blood and Burn Notice - to name a few - there's nothing quite like the start of the fall television season. Now, FOX has announced its fall schedule with premiere dates of new and returning shows, and an interesting move for the sophomore season of Touch.

According to the new schedule, the Kiefer Sutherland/Tim Kring collaboration is being shifted away from its comfy post-American Idol slot on Thursday nights and will be a lead-in to the final season of Fringe on Friday nights.

Beyond that, it looks to be business as usual for the network, which is keeping things relatively similar to last year with the typical Sunday night animation block featuring The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers and the various Seth McFarlane programs: The Cleveland Show, Family Guy and American Dad. The biggest changes to the FOX line-up will be the new comedies being added to the Tuesday comedy block, which is now anchored by New Girl (starring Zooey Deschanel) and Raising Hope.

First up will be the family comedy Ben and Kate, featuring recent Academy Award winning co-screenwriter for The Descendants, Nat Faxon. The show also stars Lucy Punch, who is fresh off her brief stint as Deena Pilgrim on the currently retooling Powers television series for FX. Also new this season is the highly-anticipated comedy The Mindy Project, starring Mindy Kaling (The Office) and a whole slew of talent like Chris Messina (Like Crazy, Devil), Ed Weeks and Anna Camp (True Blood, House of Lies).

The Mob Doctor Cast FOX

Jumping into the slot vacated by Alcatraz will be The Mob Doctor, which airs right after Bones on Monday nights. The series features a large cast including Jordana Spiro (My Boys) in the "doctor" role, and William Forsythe (The Rock) likely taking on the "mob" function of a show that certainly needs no expository marketing, thanks to its title.
