Forza Horizon 5 might release sooner than expected, even though there haven’t been any official announcements or setting reveals. It’s been two years since Forza Horizon 4 came out to a positive reception, and fans have been waiting for details on a potential sequel ever since.

Forza Horizon 4 released in September 2018, receiving praise for its innovations. Among the most impressive of these changes was the addition of all four seasons, which added variety to gameplay and aesthetic. On top of that, Playground introduced a variety of dynamic events to emphasize replayability, and the team could be preparing even more ideas to enrich the experience in the next Forza Horizon.

Despite Playground Games keeping silent, the next Forza Horizon might be just around the corner, according to GamesBeat’s journalist Jeff Grubb. Speaking with the Xbox Empire podcast (as reported by VGC), he stated the studio has already advanced much further in development than Turn 10 with the recently announced Forza Motorsport 8. Grubb stresses that both teams are in a weird position with Playground seemingly ready to release Forza Horizon 5 as soon as next year. Additionally, the journalist claims he knows the exact new setting of the upcoming arcade game, but out of respect to the developers, he is going to let them reveal it officially rather than spoil the surprise.

Fable Developer Unique Point View Forza

With Forza Motorsport 8 details still scarce, fans at least know Turn 10 is planning a reimagined experience while keeping Forza's most distinctive features intact. At its core, the game is expected to remain a highly realistic racing title relying on real-world locations, hundreds of powerful vehicles, and thousands of customization options to modify car performance. The power of current-gen console breakthroughs will also allow Forza Motorsport 8 and Forza Horizon 5 to maintain their signature gameplay while improving their already stunning graphics with new lighting solutions rendered in native 4K resolution at 60fps.

Considering that Forza Horizon is a somewhat simplified arcade spin-off series of the major Forza Motorsport franchise, it shouldn’t be surprising that the next installment might be ready sooner than the “parent” title. It’s not like Horizon takes less effort, but it is generally less complicated, which could help enable a faster turnaround time. At the same time, Forza Motorsport 8 is said to become a reinvention of sorts, which could result in a much longer development than usual. With that in mind, having Forza Horizon 5 is a tantalizing prospect for racing fans everywhere.
