The first full DLC expansion for Forza Horizon 5 has been revealed during Summer Game Fest 2022, with a trailer highlighting some of the gravity-defying action from what's now been confirmed at a Hot Wheels collaboration, coming later this summer. Forza Horizon 5 launched to critical acclaim last year, impressing players with its hyper-realistic take on the racing simulation series. Thanks to the capabilities of the Xbox Series X/S, the game takes the already-beloved Forza Horizon series to new heights in the Mexican-set Horizon 5, and many have been eagerly awaiting news on DLC.

Developer Playground Games has created some immensely popular DLC for its Forza series over the years. Along with paid Car Packs, which introduce new vehicles often related to existing properties, such as Forza Horizon 4's James Bond-themed Best of Bond Car Pack, there's also been a host of larger DLC releases. 2019's Forza Horizon 4: LEGO Speed Champions Expansion is widely regarded as one of the best from Playground to date, overhauling the visuals of the Forza Horizon experience with LEGO buildings, tracks, and of course, cars.

As revealed during Summer Game Fest's Xbox and Bethesda showcase, Forza Horizon 5's first DLC expansion will be based on the beloved Hot Wheels toy franchise, and is set to launch on July 19. Confirmed in a new trailer, the racing sim will benefit from a host of new additions thanks to the upcoming DLC, including the famous upside down and looping tracks that Hot Wheels sets are typically associated with. Bringing the fun of toy racing into Forza, early reactions to the DLC are positive.

The success of Forza Horizon 5 has led to many leaks and speculations over the months since the base game launched. Fans have been eager for additional Forza Horizon 5 content, though with the likes of Fortune Island and LEGO Speed Champions to live up to, it was unclear just how Playground planned to expand on the already huge world of the game's Mexico. With the Hot Wheels DLC just weeks away from release, fans won't have long to wait to play it for themselves.

It seems likely that even more Forza Horizon 5 DLC expansions will launch following the Hot Wheels release. The game recently celebrated its 20 million-player milestone, and neither Xbox Game Studios nor Playground will likely want to keep fans waiting for long. With Hot Wheels DLC on July 19, it could well be followed by another expansion next year - at least if Forza Horizon 4's DLC release schedule is any indication. Whatever the future may hold, Forza Horizon 5 players are set to be delving back into the action soon.
