Famous Gulag from Call of Duty: Warzone has been expertly recreated in Fortnite by a devoted fan, who approached the task with attention to detail and surprising authenticity. The end result looks convincing enough to become an official addition to the game, although the Gulag feature will likely remain a Warzone exclusive.

Call of Duty: Warzone fans are currently preparing for Season 5, which is expected to premiere on August 5 with an update. According to the recent announcement, Activision is determined to explore the game’s lore further by adding a new faction to choose playable characters from in the upcoming season. Going heavy on story in Warzone resembles the way Epic handles its hugely successful Fortnite, which is widely famous for its seasonal events. There’re also minor themed additions to Fortnite like collaborations with Marvel, for instance, which are hard to imagine in Warzone. That being said, the two games have just become a bit closer thanks to fan’s efforts.

Fortnite fan NO-SWEAT-POLICE has shared their invention with the Reddit community, asking for playtest volunteers. The work in question is an authentically recreated copy of Warzone’s Gulag built within Fortnite. The resemblance is uncanny, and the environment looks shockingly detailed considering the overall simplistic level-design in Fortnite. The scale, though, is completely different when compared to the original version of Gulag present in Warzone. Fortnite’s gameplay flow and third-person perspective require more open spaces for players to be effective, which ultimately predetermined the huge upscale for the recreated version of Gulag. While it does look very similar, the arena is actually several times bigger.

Considering that Epic is known for “adopting” popular features from other battle royale games, Gulag in Fortnite doesn’t look out of place too much. While the actual mechanics of Gulag afterlife matches are not present in Epic’s battle royale game, the recreated arena serves as a great environment for 1v1 shootouts. The author has already invited a few testers to figure out how Fortnite’s Gulag feels and plays out. That being said, Warzone’s players also have a lot to do, as this weekend, they can celebrate Season 4 finale via a Juggernaut Royale limited-time mode focused around Juggernaut armored suits.

Gulag’s recreation in Fortnite serves as yet another reminder that the demand for this feature to be implemented in Epic’s battle royale is fairly high. In reality, though, it’s unlikely that Epic Games would adopt afterlife matches from Warzone simply because they do not fit Fornite’s setting. Contrary to that, Gulag works perfectly well in a Call of Duty game, which means it will probably remain Warzone’s unique feature.
