Warning: contains major spoilers for Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #5!

Fortnite may have just created a new DC hero in its crossover with Batman: VoyagerBatman/Fortnite: Zero Point #5 features the Dark Knight's new team in action. By the end, most of them returned home, with the one unknown being a hero named Voyager.

DC's latest crossover comic has pit Batman against numerous foes in the world of Fortnite, including Deathstroke, G.I. Joe's Snake Eyes, and an assortment of original fighters. After achieving Victory Royale, Batman is transported to a different part of this strange new world, where he meets many other fighters. Forming a team, they've been investigating the reality they're now caught within to try and find a means of escape. This ambitious DC crossover is created by Donald Mustard, Christos Gage, Reilly Brown, Nelson Faro DeCastro, and John Kalisz.

Batman and his ragtag crew consisting of Raider, Bandolette, Bonehead, Magnus, Voyager, Catwoman, and Deathstroke finally uncover the secrets of how Fortnite accesses their worlds. This is made possible by the Zero Point - a portal of sorts. While not optimally functional, the team is able to center their own energy signatures to zone in on their own worlds and return. Though not without a bit of a strange exit from Voyager - who may now be a DC hero since many parts of him were transported to various worlds - including Batman's.

When Voyager jumped into the portal, it wasn't stabilized. This caused it to continue through a rapid cycle through the various worlds that can be accessed by it. Of particular note here, however, is Batman's reference to "omniversial energy", since DC recently introduced the term “omniverse” with Infinite Frontier, and most universes outside of DC leans towards using multiverse. Fortnite has access to DC's Omniverse, but also has one of its own. There are still many mysteries to this world and each of these characters comes from a different world altogether. Initially, it appears as though Voyager has suffered a grotesque fate, being sliced up to have his parts fall into multiple universes – including DC's Omniverse. However, his physiology isn't known nor is the actual effect that this transition could have.

It would actually be really interesting if separating Voyager's pieces into all the universes created multiple versions of the character. This would then mean that he could exist as a new character in the DC universe, should he be capable of regeneration like Marvel's Deadpool or if the transfer restores his body. Given that this is a comic that crosses universes in a completely new way, anything is certainly possible going forward. It would also be an interesting way of proving that this is truly canon since all DC stories matter. Placing Batman's Zero armor into the batcave, and having a Voyager cameo would be a perfect way to cement Fortnite's place in DC comic history. Every other original character here has a permanent ending, so leaving Voyager the option to come back could prove interesting for the future. It would truly be a shame if his story was at a complete end since he's the perfect candidate to travel between different worlds and explore them. He could be useful in exploring the many strange facets of DC’s new universal shift.  Hopefully, Fortnite and DC find a way to bring Voyager back into action - potentially as a new hero.
