Fortnite brings jetpacks back to the game in its latest update. The jetpack's return is part of the ongoing Marvel crossover event in Season 4, with Tony Stark and Stark Industries being credited in-game for the beloved item's comeback. The patch also includes various bug fixes and improvements in preparation for the release of Fortnite for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Fortnite is full of unique weapons and items that help the long-running battle royale game stick out from the crowd. Jetpacks were an especially popular item, allowing players to soar across the map in bursts, but they were "vaulted" and removed from the game in 2018. Since then, Fortnite has added other mobility enhancing items like helicopters and cars, but nothing has been quite the same as the classic jetpack.

According to Fortnite Intel, the patch notes for the latest Fortnite update reveal the return of the jetpack, with improvements courtesy of Stark Industries. Though these improvements are not detailed in the patch notes, it's speculated that the new jetpacks will come in different variations and feature longer flight times. The update is also preparing Fortnite for its upcoming next gen release on the Xbox Series X and PS5, with faster loading times and improved graphics for current players that will translate well to the improved specs of the new consoles.

Fortnite's Season 4 Marvel crossover event has greatly improved the quality of the game. The addition of characters, locations and skins of Marvel icons has expanded the Fortnite universe, and players are able to use weapons and powers inspired by Marvel comics and movies, adding unique abilities to the game's already packed arsenal. Epic Games has already assured players that its Marvel crossover won't end in Season 4, essentially promising even more content and new items that will add to the world of Fortnite.

Though the return of jetpacks could be seen as a minor addition to the plethora of items Fortnite boasts, it does demonstrate a level of commitment to Fortnite's fans. Jetpacks were a popular item that were taken away too soon, but Epic Games found the perfect time to bring them back and improve them in order to improve not only the gameplay but the game's story as well. It is a testament to Epic's dedication to Fortnite and its players, and how it is constantly finding ways to expand the universe and improve the quality of the game.
