The Travis Scott concert event in Fortnite looked pretty unreal. After the event was announced a few days ago, fans took to social media to voice their excitement, capitalizing on the other new content being released in Epic Games’ most popular title, such as the X-Force skins from Marvel’s Deadpool 2.

Recently, Fortnite’s Chapter Two, Season Three was pushed back, but that didn’t stop dataminers from probing the game’s code to leak the return of some old-school Fortnite weapons. Since the game’s initial release in 2017, it has garnered worldwide recognition for its large-scale events, battle royale proliferation, and grand spectacles which tend to leave some fans exhilarated and others miffed at the game’s current trajectory.

Now, as relayed best by one user’s Twitter post – and adding to the game’s other grand events - the recently announced Travis Scott concert has happened, and it looked pretty unreal. Those who attended the in-game concert got to witness a gargantuan Travis Scott appear from a portal and put on a virtual concert, complete with lights, effects, and thumping music. The concert’s in-game effects also affected players who attended, often launching them in the air for full immersion, as if the music was alive in them. Anyone who missed the concert will have more opportunities to see it for themselves, as there will be additional shows April 23rd-25th, 2020.

Fans who couldn’t attend Travis Scott's Fortnite concert took to Twitter to comment on the posted video, with most reactions espousing approval or disappointment at having missed the show. Some commenters, however, were less enthused about the performance. One user commented thusly, “What a dreary dull track. Not memorable at all. Totally surpassed by a semi imaginative video. As a track it’s below average, plodding and not one to remember.” Regardless, the general consensus is that of a satisfied community raving about an assuredly unique event in one of their favorite video games.

While it’s impossible to please everyone, and the internet is certainly a place where negativity stands out because it lends everyone a voice, Fortnite’s Travis Scott concert is an intriguing experience. The event takes the music and video game worlds and meshes them, bringing music and video game lovers together to find further commonality. Moreover, this experience helps to open the door to a new trend for music artists, allowing them to reach audiences across the world through more than typical streaming services or live concerts. Video game venues would by no means replace live concerts, but rather could supplement them to appeal to fans who can’t make it to a live show for a myriad of reasons.
