The Man of Steel himself, Superman, is coming to Fortnite's large roster of licensed skins. Superman will join the likes of other DC heroes, like Batman and Aquaman, who have been a part of Fortnite for some time now. Batman has been a pivotal character in the game's story, as his adventures in the world of the popular game have been spun-off into their own official comic book.

Earlier in the week, a Gamora skin was announced for Fortnite. Although she isn't available quite yet, players will be able to earn the Marvel heroine's skin for free in a new tournament on August 11. The Guardians of the Galaxy character will be fully added to the game on August 14, which will allow Gamora to team up or face off against other heroes and villains, including her adoptive father, Thanos. Worlds will continue to collide in Fortnite, as Superman is now flying in to join the action.

Superman and his alter-ego Clark Kent will be attainable via in-game quests in which Clark Kent's memories have to be restored, the official Fortnite blog reveals. Players will have to complete five quests given by Clark, Armored Batman, or Beast Boy NPCs in order to unlock the Clark Kent skin. After that, they must glide through three rings and use a phone booth as Clark Kent to unlock the Super Identity emote, which then allows players to become Superman in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7. After this, players can choose to start matches as Superman in their locker. Superman's iconic black suit costume, as well as regular and Shadow variants of his cape glider and Fortress of Solitude-inspired pickaxe, can also be unlocked by completing Epic Quests.

Superman is probably one of the biggest additions to Fortnite, as he's one of the most recognizable superheroes in comic book history. For better or worse, this probably isn't the game that fans of the hero would like to see Superman in, as he hasn't had his own game since Superman Returns in 2006. Footage of a canceled Superman game recently surfaced online, but it seems unlikely that Kal-El will be getting anything better than a Fortnite crossover for some time.

Nonetheless, it's yet another fun toy in Fortnite's deep toybox and economy for players to enjoy. It's hard to imagine Superman wielding a gun, but fans will get to experience that with this new skin. Superman will also appear in next year's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but he likely won't be featured in a playable capacity as he's the antagonist of the game.
