Street Fighter is coming to Fortnite. Leaks on Twitter have revealed a new portal on the Fortnite island that appears to lead to the Street Fighter realm, plus some teaser audio inspired by the arcade games. Fans suspect that Epic Games will soon announce skins inspired by the retro Capcom fighting series.

Fortnite Season 5 has been filled with television, film, and video game crossovers. In the Season 4 finale, a battle with the evil villain Galactus, Destroyer of Worlds left a hole in the center of reality. Players were tasked with defending the Zero Point in Season 5 - with the help of some famous bounty hunters. Throughout the season, characters from other dimensions like Star Wars' The Mandalorian and God of War's Kratos have entered the island in the form of special skins for players to wear. These crossovers are typically marked by "hunter portals" opening on the island before Epic Games officially reveals the news.

Players are still waiting on Epic Games to confirm the news, but all signs point to a new Street Fighter crossover coming soon. Fortnite leaker Lucas7yoshi shared a video of the active portal on the island on Twitter. In the clip, the player could be seen approaching a clear purple doorway to another realm. Street Fighter fans recognized that on the other side of the portal was the popular Dojo Rooftop fighting stage.

Another leaker, ShiinaBR, shared the image from the portal along with some mysterious teaser music. Fans in the replies guessed that the audio was a distorted version of the music theme for Ryu, one of the original Street Fighter characters from 1987. It's not confirmed which Street Fighter characters will receive Fortnite skins, but Shiina guessed that the game will receive the male Ryu and the female Chun Li.

There are many Street Fighter characters that fans would like to see in Fortnite, but Ryu and Chun Li would make the most sense. Ryu has been in the series since the beginning, making him one of the most recognizable characters. Chun Li was also the first playable female in a fighting series, so her introduction in 1991's Street Fighter II: The World Warrior was a pretty big deal. Plus, both of these characters appeared on the cover of Capcom's most recent Street Fighter installment, Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, in 2016.

Fortnite Season 5 is slated to wrap up in mid-March, but there's still plenty in store for the coming weeks. In addition to the Street Fighter crossover, recent datamine leaks discovered signs of a crossover with Disney's Tron franchise, so fans can hopefully expect to see that soon. Plus, there's talk of something big on its way for the Fortnite Season 5 finale.
