Spring Breakout, the first-ever springtime event for Fortnite, goes live across all platforms tomorrow, March 30, and introduces an in game reward, new outfits, and a Duos Competition. The arrival of such an event seems a fitting way for Epic Games to close out March, especially when considering all that's transpired for Fortnite throughout the month.

March 16 marked the end of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5, as the explosive Zero Crisis finale made room for Chapter 2 Season 6. The long-awaited Season 6 content introduced myriad changes, such as numerous map-related alterations, additional weapons, and several new characters. With regards to the latter, three previously unseen faces joined the battle royale experience, including Teen Titans' Raven, Lara Croft of Tomb Raider fame, and the legendary FIFA player Neymar Jr. What else Epic Games may have in store as the rest of the season carries on is presently anyone's guess. However, Epic recently sent a survey to select players that suggests the team may someday consider joining forces with Capcom for a Resident Evil-related crossover.

Today, Epic Games unveiled Fortnite's first spring event, Spring Breakout, which lasts from March 30 to April 7. Spring Breakout will unleash a Duos Competition, brand-new outfits, and an in-game reward. The character Webster joins the fray on April 1, bringing along a Legendary Quest that will reward players with the Tactical Quaxes Pickaxe upon completion. The Egg Launcher returns for the event, too; plus, fans can expect to find a new type of "forgeable egg" scattered across the island that will unlock a hopping ability of some kind once consumed.

Friday, April 2 marks the return of the Duos Competition, with Spring Breakout Cup replacing Friday Night Bragging Rights. Duos will have three hours to compete in up to 10 matches and earn points; the best Duos in each server region will count among the first players to unlock the Webster Outfit and Mecha-Feathers Back Bling. Only players with an account level of 30 or higher can participate, so long as they have 2FA enabled.

This new event may very well add even more excitement to an already interesting time in the free-to-play experience. Again, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 went live a couple of weeks ago and engendered a whole host of noteworthy changes. While the Spring Breakout event won't be similarly transformative due to its limited nature, it could mix things up for players quite a bit.

The Kaskade concert recently represented another major limited-time Fortnite event, having premiered over the weekend. Fans were treated to a performance of the artist's new Reset EP at the battle royale mode's concert stage, which has previously hosted performances by the likes of Travis Scott and Steve Aoki.
