Looks like Marvel's presence in Fortnite is going to be heavier than expected as both Spider-Man and Black Panther are rumored to be coming to the game soon. A couple of superheroes might accompany the already existing team of characters added to Fortnite with the recently launched Chapter 2 Season 4.

The current massive crossover between Fortnite and Marvel universe is titled Nexus War. The contents of the themed event have been teased for quite some time through in-game comic books that suggested the arrival of Thor and Galactus, Devourer of Worlds, at the Battle Island. Soon after the initial tease, Mjölnir, Thor’s famous hammer, was added to the game hinting at the approaching reveal of the planned crossover event. Finally, on August 27th, Nexus War arrived with a whole team of superheroes to defend the Fortnite realm from Galactus.

The originally revealed crew of Battle Island’s defenders consists of Iron Man, She-Hulk, Groot, Storm, Mystique, Dr. Doom, Wolverine, and, of course, mighty Thor himself. According to the latest datamining efforts, however, more heroes might be joining the roster. Famous Fortnite leaker HYPEX has recently shared his findings on Twitter claiming that both Spider-Man and Black Panther might be added to the game at a later date. Regarding Spider-Man, there’s apparently a specific Season 4 achievement with the hero’s personal logo, which suggests the character’s skin could appear in the Item shop at some point. Black Panther’s supposed appearance is even more believable since there’re already audio files in the game’s client containing sound effects of two of his abilities – Kinetic Absorption and Whirlwind Blast.

According to another Fortnite leaker, ShiinaBR, Spider-Man’s iconic foe Carnage is also featured among the newly revealed achievements, which is directly hinting at the possibility of having a third additional character. Oddly, Captain America, who was featured in Fortnite’s in-game comic book, did not arrive in the first batch of heroes indicating that he might be returning to the store later on as well. It is worth noting that a series of official comic book covers made by famous Marvel artists to promote the Nexus War crossover event also featured Venom, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and Blade among others, which serves as yet another hint that Epic Games is planning to expand the roster as Season 4 develops.

Judging by the fact that the team of Marvel superheroes is confronted by the powerful Galactus capable of destroying whole worlds, the initially revealed crew might not be enough to save Fortnite from another cinematic cataclysm. It makes perfect sense to feature a handful of additional heroes to reinforce the defenders’ side, and to introduce a bit of diversity. Since Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Carnage are already featured in Fortnite’s files, there’s a good chance to see them as playable characters soon. All that’s left to do is to patiently wait for an official confirmation.
