Players will need to set structures on fire to complete a Fortnite Season 8 challenge. This has been a reoccurring challenge in the game for a few seasons now. For example, back in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6, players were tasked with destroying 10 structures. Now, the challenge makes a return and will reward players with 30,000 XP toward their Battle Pass upon completion. Setting structures on fire is one of the Fortnite Season 8 NPC challenges. To start the questline, players will need to find and speak with Ember.

Ember is one of the newest NPCs to join Fortnite Season 8. She is also an unlockable Epic Outfit in the Season 8 Battle Pass once players reach tier 71. Like the other NPCs in Fortnite Season 8, she has five different challenges for the player:

  • Destroy a fireplace at Lazy Lake, Craggy Cliffs, Holly Hedges, or Pleasant Park
  • Set ten structures on fire
  • Emote within five meters of a vehicle that’s smoking
  • Ignite an opponent with a firefly jar
  • Heal 15 points of damage from a campfire

All of these challenges are connected to fire in some way, which is fitting given Ember's name.

Ember is located east of Pleasant Park and northwest of Corny Crops. To unlock the quest to set ten structures on fire, players should speak with her and accept her first quest. After completing the first challenge of destroying a fireplace at Lazy Lake, Craggy Cliffs, Holly Hedges, or Pleasant Park, the next challenge will be automatically added to the player's list. From there, they can begin setting structures on fire.

How To Set Structures on Fire in Fortnite Season 8

Fortnite season 3 fire jar

There are a few different ways to start fires in Fortnite. However, the best, fastest, and easiest way to set structures on fire is by finding the Firefly Jar item. Players will be able to catch Fireflies in Weeping Woods. They are incredibly common in this area, so players should just make sure to look closely for a bright red and orange light that floats slightly above the ground. Approaching and interacting with them will allow players to put them in a jar and use them as throwable items.

To complete Ember's challenge, players just need to light 10 structures on fire. Weeping Woods does have enough buildings to complete this challenge easily so players don't need to travel far. They will need to make sure to hit a single building directly. The fire will eventually spread and burn the building to the ground. The entire building should be worth more than the 10 structure pieces needed to complete the challenge. Once done, players will receive the 30,000 XP toward leveling up their Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass.
