The mysteries and lore of Fortnite have only deepened with the alien invasion that takes place during Season 7, and many of the weekly Epic and Legendary Quests focus on investigating the threat. During Week 2 of Fortnite Season 7, players can find and interact with a Dead Drop in Weeping Woods as part of a larger Legendary Quest. Each smaller quest completed as part of the Legendary Quest rewards XP toward the Season 7 Battle Pass, but this first activity rewards slightly more than all the other activities. Players can earn 45,000 XP just for finding one of five Dead Drops in Weeping Woods.

In traditional espionage, Dead Drops are used to pass items or information between two people to protect anonymity and security. In Fortnite, Dead Drops look like tree stumps to blend into the surrounding woods, but they are visually distinct from real trees thanks to a combination lock and valve on the top. They are easily visible at close range thanks to a glow that surrounds them. Though there are five available, players only need to use one to complete the activity, earn XP, and unlock the next step in the questline. Here's where to find a Dead Drop in Fortnite Season 7.

Dead Drop Locations in Fortnite Season 7

Dead Drop locations in Weeping Woods in Fortnite Season 7

To find and interact with a Dead Drop in Fortnite Season 7, players will need to travel to Weeping Woods, either directly off the Battle Bus or at some point during the match. Most of the Dead Drops can be found near the river, so following the water should eventually lead players to one of the five possible locations. The map above, created by Fortnite.gg, shows the location of each Dead Drop. A more detailed description of each appears below:

  • Dead Drop 1: On the northeast side of the bridge on the northeast corner of Weeping Woods.
  • Dead Drop 2: On the southwest side of the bridge on the northeast corner of Weeping Woods.
  • Dead Drop 3: On the north side of Weeping Woods, before the treeline.
  • Dead Drop 4: South of Dead Drop 3 and the River, under a tree near the Riverbend.
  • Dead Drop 5: Near wood and trees west of the river on the south side of Weeping Woods.

There may also be other Dead Drops throughout Weeping Woods, but these are the easiest to locate due to their proximity to the River. Players may want to consider completing this challenge in Team Rumble Mode to avoid quick eliminations while they are questing.

Once players interact with the Dead Drop and open the door, the quest should register as complete, and players will earn 45,000 XP toward their Fortnite Season 7 Battle Pass. Once players know where to go, this quest is a fairly straightforward way to get a nice boost to the Battle Pass early in a match.
