Gnomes are back in Fortnite as a part of the Season 5 Week 5 challenges where players will need to find two buried gnomes and dig them up in order to gain a massive amount of XP. This is only one of several new challenges introduced in Week 5 that will help players reach level 100 in no time. This guide will help players locate both Gnomes that need to be dug up to complete the challenge.
Gnomes have played a vital role in some of Fortnite's side stories. In fact, Chapter 2 Season 2 saw a side storyline designated to the Gnomes who had started a war with the Teddy Bears. However, Gnomes have plagued Fortnite for longer than Chapter 2. In Chapter 1 there were several challenges that required players to locate hidden giggling gnomes in order to unlock certain items or gain XP. Now, it seems that the Gnomes are getting into even more trouble causing them to get stuck underground.
Digging Up Gnomes In Fortnite Season 5
The Gnomes that need to be dug up are in two different locations, and each location has multiple Gnomes. The first of which is Fort Crumpet which is marked on the map above. Inside the decrepit fort players will find 2 mounds of dirt tucked away close to the fort's walls. Players can approach these mounds and press their action button in order to dig up the buried Gnomes. The next set of Gnomes are located in Pleasant Park which is one of the larger POIs on the map. It is also marked on the map above. One of the Gnomes is buried in front of a park bench near the center of Pleasant Park, and the other is buried next to a small tree not too far from the first.
How these Gnomes found their way underground is a mystery, but it is nice of the player to lend a helping hand. However, one of the other week 5 challenges requires players to bury Gnomes so the porcelain pranksters shouldn't be too quick to thank the player. Regardless, players will be rewarded with 50K XP after helping dig up the Gnomes getting them one step closer to reaching level 100.
