Puddles are appearing all over the map in Fortnite, and they're likely leading up to another large, world-changing event in Season 3. Recently, Fortnite brought lightsabers back into their battle royale game to help celebrate Star Warspopular May the 4th holiday, and the game had even managed to continue to stay relevant in both the comic book superhero world and with music fans with its recent crossovers with Deadpool and Travis Scott, respectively.

Fortnite has become one of the most well-known and popular games in the entire world, but that hasn't stopped developer Epic Games from taking some pretty drastic risks with their property. At the end of the game's tenth season they blew up the entire world, and for a short amount of time all players could do was simply stare at a black hole, unable to access the game. Fortnite then returned, now calling itself Fortnite Chapter 2, with new gameplay options and a brand new arena for players to explore. Now, it looks like Epic Games may be prepping players for another similar change in the near future.

According to a recent report by Dexerto, puddles have begun appearing all over Fortnite's current map, something which could possibly be teasing the arrival of a massive flood in the game's next season. The article states that players familiar with Fortnite data mining "will know that there has been talk of the current map completely flooding in the game's next major update," which, if true, could very well be starting right now. Check out some images of Fortnite's new puddles posted by Twitter user @FortBRNewsLeaks below:

If true, this wouldn't be the only drastic change which Fortnite is currently going through, as the game has also received a brand-new island which doesn't involve any combat at all. At the moment, it's unsure how this new pacifist mode, dubbed Fortnite's Party Royale, will fit in with the alleged future flooding, or if Fortnite will choose Aquaman to be the next comic book character to partner up with once the catastrophic event occurs.

One of the things which keeps long-term Fortnite players coming back to the game over and over again is the plethora of small touches that Epic Games uses to move the overarching plot forward, and it's highly likely that these puddles are the newest example of that mentality. If the developers are planning on flooding the world and making the next season of Fortnite be all about naval combat and battle royale pirates, players would be temporarily confused, but likely not surprised.
