Fortnite has had many special guests over the past few years, and now it looks like the dimension-hopping duo of Rick And Morty may be joining them. Throughout the latest season of Epic's massively popular multiplayer Battle Royale shooter, heroes and villains from all across cinema, comic books, and other games have been joining the fun as DLC skins – with Batman and GI Joe's Snake-Eyes even facing off against each other in a tie-in comic.

Meanwhile, Adult Swim’s Rick And Morty are no strangers to video games. Aside from making references to Minecraft and Kingdom Hearts within the show and tie-in comics, the team of jaded scientist Rick Sanchez and his socially awkward grandson Morty Smith have done tongue-in-cheek advertisements for Death Stranding and the PlayStation 5, as well as starred in a few mobile tie-in games of their own. Now, it looks like the dynamic duo could be finally making an appearance in a triple-A title sooner than fans were expecting.

Earlier today, Fortnite’s official Twitter page posted a brief video clip hinting at some Rick And Morty-related content. The included text describes a “transportation bot test” that wouldn’t be too out of place for Rick, and among the items shown in the experiment is the Butter Robot from an early Season 1 episode – which Rick built for the sole purpose of passing him butter for his morning pancakes, much to the poor robot’s horror. The post ends by mentioning a “full data upload” on June 8, suggesting that a more official announcement could be coming on that date.

In the meantime, Fortnite is getting ready to kick off its seventh DLC season, the trailer of which suggests an alien invasion following the massive crossover war featured in Season 6. Rick And Morty might not be the only ones joining in either, as a recent tease hints that Superman might be coming to the game as the latest in a long line of comic book heroes that have graced Fortnite as guest combatants.

This recent Rick And Morty-related tease could mean anything, the most likely possibility being that Rick and Morty might be added as playable skins in Fortnite’s latest season. Given the pair’s experience travelling to other planets and realties throughout their show’s almost five-season run on Cartoon Network, they certainly will be right at home in the crazy world of Fortnite, especially if an alien invasion is indeed on the way. If nothing else, fans would get to see them face off against the likes of Deadpool and The Terminator in multiplayer shootouts, as well as break out a few stylish dance moves in between rounds.
