Galactus has yet to make his attempt to devour Fortnite's Battle Island, and the game's Creative Director is already hinting that Marvel's MODOK could be Fortnite's next big Marvel villain. The Nexus War between Marvel's mightiest heroes and Galactus: Devourer of Worlds has been Fortnite's most ambitious crossover yet, and the success of Season 4 could give Epic Games a big head in more ways than one.

Some seasons of Fortnite has a main villain that attempts to accomplish some evil goal that will wreak havoc on The Island. Through context clues and cutscenes, a story unfolds in front of the players week by week leading up to a massive end of season event. For Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4, Galactus plays the role of the villain with the intent to devour the world of Fortnite. Marvel heroes such as Iron Man and Wolverine have spent the season preparing for the battle with Galactus, but the Devourer of Worlds may not be the last Marvel villain that plays this big of a role in Fortnite.

In a recent interview on the This Week In Marvel podcast, Fortnite's Creative Director Donald Mustard explained how Marvel's iconic villain MODOK could be featured as the main villain in a future Fortnite season. Around the 40:20 mark of episode 469, Donald Mustard states that Fortnite crossovers have to occur in an authentic way. "If MODOK learned that there is a slice of reality where Fortnite exists, he would be very interested in what is going on there, and maybe there is a way that he plays into that at some point," stated Mustard.

It is also important to note that Fortnite and Marvel plan to continue their crossovers for years to come. According to Donald Mustard, the Nexus War is just the start of what he is calling a "Marvel integration." While it is unlikely that every season from here on out will be Marvel-themed, bigger crossovers such as the Nexus War could happen again in the future. If and when they do, players already have an idea of how MODOK could play the role of the main villain for that season.

Regardless of whether MODOK fills that role or not, impending Marvel crossovers are something to be excited about. Both Epic Games and Marvel pay close attention to the details of these crossovers, and they introduce interesting concepts that spice up the game's otherwise repetitive gameplay. Not to mention, playing as Groot, Thor, and other Marvel characters in Fortnite is a dream come true for the superhero fandom.
