After the success of Fortnite Season 4, it's no surprise that Marvel's heroes will return to The Island in some form or fashion, and a tease from both franchises may be hinting that another crossover is coming sooner than players think. Season 4 was completely Marvel-themed and is the first-ever Fortnite season to consist entirely of one big crossover.

Fortnite's close relationship with Marvel isn't any secret as hero skins have been trickling into the game long before the crossover season. The most recent Mandalorian crossover also shows that Fortnite has a decent relationship with Marvel's parent company, Disney. While Fortnite has had various crossovers with DC Comics, Star Wars, and other pieces of popular media, its partnership with Marvel Comics has been more extensive than the rest.

Fortnite's Marvel season ended on December 1st with one of the most spectacular live events to date. A few days after the event, the official Marvel Entertainment Twitter account posted a thank you message to Epic Games for teaming up with Marvel to launch the Nexus War. The message comes from both Marvel Comics and Marvel Games, in which the companies cryptically tell Fortnite players. "See you again soon!" This indicates that Marvel's heroes will likely be returning to Fortnite sometime in the near future.

In a recent podcast, Fortnite's creative director Donald Mustard stated that the Nexus War season was only the beginning of years worth of crossover material. The thank you message from Marvel uses the wording "launch" in regards to the Nexus War as if confirming Fortnite Season 4 was just the beginning. Season 5 is currently running with a bounty hunter theme and has plenty of unique crossovers in the works, so there may not be room for more Marvel heroes this season. However, players should expect big things from Marvel and Fortnite again sometime soon.

When Marvel's heroes return to the world of Fortnite they likely won't be battling against Galactus again, but there are plenty of other powerful villains that could stir the pot. MODOK has already been teased as a potential Fortnite villain, and Thanos is a Marvel fan-favorite that has already appeared in Fortnite for a short while. Plus, there are still a lot of iconic Marvel superheroes that have yet to make their way into Fortnite that fans of both franchises are dying to get their hands on.
