The Baby Yoda back bling from The Mandalorian skin in Fortnite is as cute as it gets, but it turns out that while he can hold his own in battle in the show with his control of the Force, in Fortnite he just gets in the way. Hovering behind the player, he blocks their view when aiming so that all players see when they look down their sights is the inside of his floating cradle.

The Baby Yoda cosmetic, officially called The Child in both the TV show and in Fortnite, is part of Season 5 Chapter 2's crossover with the Disney+ original, The Mandalorian. The highly regarded show owes a lot of its popularity to Baby Yoda, who has flooded the internet with memes and fanart with a face that no one can resist. So naturally, when fans and Fortnite players heard that they can have their own bundle of joy, they came running. Unlocking The Child is not an easy goal, as players will either have to put in some serious work or some serious credits. There are no hidden quests or secrets to getting this cosmetic, rather it is part of the Battle Pass rewards, and players need to reach level 100 to unlock it. People can either do this by putting in a lot of time and effort, or by purchasing tiers which each cost 150 V-bucks.

Baby Yoda can be used with any skin, not only The Mandalorian. He floats around the player's back instead of being fixed in one location, which is visually appealing but, as it turns out, not very practical. Reddit user SweggyBoi posted a video of the bug, explaining that it is impossible to see where one is aiming with The Child equipped, with the hope that Epic Games would see his post and take steps toward resolving the problem. The video shows the user trying to aim, but every time they do the camera just gets really cozy with the famous cradle, blocking the player's view. The post did get to developer Epic Games, with user M_House_Epic just saying that they will pass the video on to the team now that it has been brought to their attention. This reply was posted a day ago, and as of this writing there has been no word from Epic Games about the issue.

This is not the first problem that cosmetics have caused in Fortnite. Various other skins have given players either advantages or disadvantages that were not meant by the developers. The Venom skin had a similar issue to Baby Yoda where the skin obstructs the view of the player when trying to aim. While crouching and aiming, Venom's shoulder was so buff that it got in the way when aiming.

Baby Yoda is so cute it's almost worth having to fight blind in order to have him by one's side. Unfortunately, for now the back bling isn't very practical. As SweggyBoi suggested, moving Baby Yoda a little to the left, or making him transparent when aiming would fix the problem. Hopefully Epic Games releases a fix for this soon, and players can go on taking this adorable child into a Fortnite fight to the death.
