In Fortnite, players can obtain the free Secret Sledge Pickaxe by completing the newly introduced Covert Ops Quests. Part of this questline from The Origin will run from April 22, 2022 until May 2, 2022. Players will need to complete all of the timed challenges within this questline before the deadline to obtain the Secret Sledge Pickaxe, which is a harvesting tool cosmetic item for Chapter 3, Season 2.
The questline has a total of four individual quests that range from two to four days in length. Players will need to clear each set of challenges before they can unlock the next stage of the quest. Players will need to complete The Origin quests in Zero Build Mode in order to earn the pickaxe in Fortnite. In order to unlock the various quests, players will need to find the NPC called The Origin roaming around the Northern edge of the Sanctuary between a series of Seven buildings. This NPC will give the player the questline to complete to obtain the new harvesting tool.
The first quest began on April 22, 2022, and ends on April 26, 2022. For this challenge, players will need to establish a Device Uplink in Zero Build Mode. This can be completed at Logjam, Sleepy Sound, Tilted Towers, Sanctuary, Greasy Grove, or Condo Canyon. Additionally, players will also need to eliminate 10 players in Zero Build Mode. Completing both of these objectives will earn players 30,000 XP and unlock the second stage.
Fortnite: The Origin Quest Guide
The second stage of the quests in Fortnite are available from April 26, 2022, through April 28, 2022, and they are only available to the players that completed the first stage. Players will need to establish a Device Uplink in Zero Build Mode at the IO Outposts and collect a piece of compromised Intel from IO Outposts in Zero Build Mode. The reward for clearing these challenges is 30,000 XP. Once players clear the second stage of the quests, they will be eligible to participate in the third stage once they become available.
The third stage of The Origin's quests require players to establish a Device Uplink in Zero Build Mode at either the Tilted Towers, Daily Bugle, Rocky Reels, Condo Canyon, or Coney Crossroads. Additionally, players are tasked with destroying 300 structures with a Tank in Fortnite, such as the IO Titan Tank, using Zero Build Mode. Players will need to complete these two objectives between April 28, 2022 and April 30, 2022. Like the previous stages, the reward for completing the third set of quests is 30,000 XP and it will unlock the next stage when it becomes available.
The fourth and final stage for The Origin's questline as part of the larger Covert Ops Quests for Chapter 3, Season 2 will run from April 30, 2022, until May 2, 2022. Players will need to again establish a Device Uplink in Zero Build mode at the Tilted Towers, Rocky Reels, Command Cavern, or the Fortress. Additionally, players are tasked with planting timed explosives at an IO Airship, Command Cavern, or the Fortress in Zero Build Mode in Fortnite. Clearing this final stage will earn players 30,000 XP as well as the Secret Sledge Pickaxe cosmetic harvesting tool.
