It’s impressive that Fortnite, which launched nearly four years ago, has maintained such a sustainable momentum within the Battle Royale genre. Part of this success comes from the constantly updated cosmetic items up for purchase, and the rest from an incredibly compelling core gameplay loop that remains fresh no matter how many matches are played.

One element that really keeps players coming back for more is the regularly updated challenges that unlock over the course of a season. They give players the opportunity to earn precious experience which is used to unlock more goodies in each season’s Battle Pass. As Fortnite heads into Week 6 of Season 6, a slew of new challenges make their debut, and players have already started hunting them down.

  • Open Safes

Safes can spawn in one of five locations across Pleasant Park. Like treasure chests, all players need to do to open one is to interact with it for a period of time. It takes much longer to open than a normal chest, but the results are plenty of Bars.

  • Complete Bounties

Bounties were added to the game in the fifth season and make their return to the island. Players can claim a bounty from one of the NPCs roaming the map or from a Bounty Board. Once claimed, they must eliminate a nearby opponent within six minutes.

  • Reach Max Shields in Different Matches

Using Shield Potions, standing in the waters around Slurpy Swamp, eating mushrooms, and more, fill players’ shields. After they get their shield to maximum, players need to complete the match, start a new one, and repeat the process two more times.

  • Stay Within 20m of a Player for 3 Seconds While Wearing a Prop Disguise

To complete this task, players need to purchase a Prop Disguise from one of several NPCs on the island for 75 Bars. With the disguise equipped, they need to stay within 20 meters of an enemy for three seconds. This is generally easier to accomplish in Team Rumble which features infinite respawns.

  • Hit From 50m or Greater with a Bow

Players need to purchase or loot a bow and hit an enemy from 50 meters or more away. A simple task to describe, a much more difficult one to accomplish.

  • Complete the Swimming Time Trial at Weeping Woods or Coral Castle

Coral Castle and Weeping Woods each have a time trial. At the start of each trial location is a stopwatch icon. Interacting with the icon starts the race. Players need to swim between markers in order until the end of the course to complete the trial.

  • Visit Fancy View, Rainbow Rentals, and Lockie’s Lighthouse

Heading to the three indicated locations is all that needs to be done to complete this challenge. They can be visited in any order across multiple matches.

Each week sees more challenges to complete in Fortnite, and they keep the white-knuckle combat interesting by giving players alternate objectives to complete beyond simply surviving to the end.
