Epic Games has officially confirmed an anticipated Dragon Ball crossover coming to Fortnite in August. Dragon Ball is one of the most recognizable anime properties out there, and it's already had a considerable influence on the video game industry with titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ. Its inclusion in Fortnite is hardly a surprise, as the crossover between two established universes was leaked at the beginning of July.In July, well-known Fortnite insider HYPEX shared their latest discovery. It was revealed that with a regular update, Epic added to the game a so-called Creative Stamina Prop, which looked almost exactly like Capsule Corp from Dragon Ball Z. Additionally, HYPEX reported that the prop had black outlines similar to already existing anime cosmetics in Fortnite.Related: Fortnite First Person Camera Mode Teased By LeakerNow, it appears that a Fortnite/Dragon Ball crossover is indeed coming, which has been confirmed by the official Fortnite Twitter account. On the social media network, Epic has shared an image of what appears to be Shenron, the Eternal Dragon from the Dragon Ball universe, marking the next anime crossover in Fortnite. While the silhouette of the magical creature is clearly recognizable, there’s more to the confirmation. The image contains the names of Bird Studio and Toei Animation, undeniably suggesting that Dragon Ball is coming to Fortnite in some form. Epic’s announcement is accompanied by a specific date, August 16, 2022. On that day, the crossover itself might be revealed.

Fortnite's History Of Crossovers

Although a Fortnite/Dragon Ball crossover sounds exciting and even somewhat refreshing, Epic’s game is no stranger to colliding with other franchises and popular universes. Over the years, the studio has collaborated with dozens of prominent IPs, including massive Fortnite x Marvel/DC collaborations. The immensely popular battle royale game has become so influential in the comic book world that the aforementioned crossovers are considered canon. In this newly established fictional world, characters from both Marvel and DC can coexist, which has been recently proven by the Marvel x Fortnite: Zero War #1 issue.

With Dragon Ball finally landing in Fortnite next week, it’ll be interesting to see how Epic handles such an enticing crossover. Most likely, the event won’t be narrowed down to just adding Goku as an unlockable character skin, especially considering DBZ-related environmental props have already been leaked. At the same time, Goku might even be too powerful to be featured as a cosmetic character makeover for everyone to unlock. Epic could reserve the hero for story development within the Dragon Ball event, allowing players to earn something less overpowered and balance-breaking.
