The new Fortnite event Collision, which ends Chapter 3 Season 2 with a giant mech brawl and multiversal firefight, teases the arrival of Darth Vader into Epic Games' battle royale shooter. The competitive multiplayer title has become well-known for its multitude of crossovers with other franchises like Star Wars, DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Today's Collision event brought an end to Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, and Darth Vader looks to be making a dramatic appearance once Chapter 3 Season 3 kicks off.

Epic Games frequently updates Fortnite to add new items and in-game events, with different versions of the game organized into Chapters and Seasons. Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 kicked off in March 2022, and it introduced a number of interesting mechanics and characters to the battle royale shooter. Sprinting and mantling were added to the game, giving players increased mobility as they traverse the Island and mow down the competition, alongside a new vehicle and new weapons. Surprising crossover characters were also added, including Marvel Comics heroes Doctor Strange and Prowler. Following today's Collision event Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 will start tomorrow, June 5, and it seems an iconic Star Wars villain will come along with it.

A scene from the Fortnite Collision event, posted to YouTube, teases Darth Vader's imminent arrival to The Island. One brief segment of the story-driven event sees a portal open into the Star Wars universe, and players can watch Obi-Wan Kenobi face off against the iconic Sith Lord in an intense lightsaber duel. Following this dramatic tease, an early leak from Fortnite insider iFireMonkey (via Twitter) subsequently revealed Darth Vader's in-game skin. The Sith Lord should be available to all players who embrace the Dark Side of the Force once Chapter 3 Season 3 kicks off tomorrow.

Darth Vader's addition to Fortnite is imminent, and he will join familiar faces from the Star Wars franchise when he arrives. An Obi-Wan Kenobi Fortnite skin was added to Epic Games' battle royale shooter in May, just in time to commemorate the premiere of the character's Disney+ series. Darth Vader also plays a notable role in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, making his addition to Fortnite very appropriate. Over the years other Star Wars characters like Boba Fett, Rey and Kylo Ren have also traveled to The Island for intense third-person shooter combat.

As one of pop culture's most recognizable villains, it seems natural for Darth Vader to eventually appear in Fortnite. The unstoppable Sith Lord will soon join his former mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to engage in a battle royale for control of the galaxy. While the appearance of Darth Vader is not officially confirmed, Fortnite fans are more than likely to run into the Star Wars icon at the start of Chapter 3 Season 3.
