Recent rumors of a Fortnite and Among Us collaboration have been making the rounds, but according to InnerSloth, the developers of Among Us, there’s no truth to them. Both Among Us and Fortnite have been at the forefront of gaming in recent years, both of them being interactive, competitive, online experiences.

These rumors became widespread when a well-known Fortnite leaker tweeted about it. Naturally, the rumor took on a life of its own in the few days since the tweet, leading to a lot of excitement and speculation about the nature of the crossover. Epic Games has a habit of partnering with other IPs to create Fortnite content, so a meeting with Among Us still doesn’t seem too far-fetched. However, until now, there was no other well-known information to help confirm or deny the truth of these rumors.

The Among Us Twitter account has made it quite clear, though, as of Monday that there are no current plans to put the world’s favorite colorful spacemen in Fortnite. While there’s no telling if Among Us and Fortnite could encounter each other in the future, “this rumor… isn’t true… would be super cool though.” Nonetheless, people aren’t convinced, as many comments to the Among Us post accuse InnerSloth of lying, likely to protect a non-disclosure agreement. After all, the rumor has some ground to stand on. For now, though, players have nothing official to go off except this statement from Among Us, whether or not they choose to believe it is a lie.

It’s worth noting that the initial rumors stem from words such as “mole” and “tasks” appearing in Fortnite files. While these could hint at an Among Us crossover, they could also be pointing at an Among Us-like game mode in the future. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War did this recently, and Fortnite largely rose to popularity by implementing a “Battle Royale” mode that is extremely similar to games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It would be an interesting move to attract Among Us fans to Fortnite in an effort to increase the game’s players and give the different fan bases one place to congregate.

This is entirely speculation, though, so unfortunately, fans hoping for an Among Us-Fortnite partnership will have to continue waiting. Thankfully, Fortnite is anything but low on content, especially with the recent release of the Suicide Squad update. One of Epic Games’ biggest strengths is finding companies who are eager to gain more exposure for their IPs, whether that be Rick and Morty, Superman, or something nobody ever thought of. Time will tell if Among Us eventually joins that list.
