After a potential subscription service leaked earlier this month, Epic Games has officially announced the monthly Fortnite Crew subscription that rewards players with V-Bucks, the current season's battle pass, and an exclusive skin set. This new service will launch next month at the start of Fortnite Season 5.

The monthly Fortnite subscription service was leaked at the beginning of November as select players began to receive emails from Epic Games which contained surveys. These surveys asked players what price they would be willing to pay for the service as well as outlined what could potentially be included if players chose to purchase the monthly Crew Pack. While the knowledge of the subscription service became commonplace, Epic Games hadn't given any indication that it was working on any sort of monthly service. That is, until today when the Fortnite Crew subscription was officially announced.

Epic Games is calling the subscription service the "Ultimate Fortnite Offer," and comparing the price of the items it includes separately, players are getting a lot for a nominal fee. For $12 a month, players will receive a supply of 1,000 V-Bucks at the beginning of each month. They are also given a monthly Crew Pack, which includes an exclusive skin, pickaxe, and back bling. As an added bonus, players will gain permanent access to the season battle pass at that time.

The Fortnite Crew subscription's details do vary slightly from what had leaked earlier this month. The Crew Pack skin was originally marketed as "early access" to a skin set but has been changed to an exclusive skin set that only Fortnite Crew members will have access to. When breaking down how much the items would cost individually, the Fortnite Crew pack offers players a $38 value for less than a third of the price.

For the dedicated Fortnite fans, the Fortnite Crew subscription is a no-brainer. Especially for those who plan to buy the Season 5 battle pass as the subscription is only a couple of dollars more than the battle pass by itself. Fortnite has been a dominating force in the gaming industry due to its cosmetic storefront, and the Fortnite Crew subscription will likely prove to be another successful form of monetization for Epic Games. Given its ongoing battle with Apple over monetization on the iOS App Store, it looks like Epic is finding other ways to boost its revenue without involving lengthy court battles.
