The release date and time for the new Fortnite event Collision, which will let players charge into battle in giant mechs, has been revealed. Epic Games' beloved battle royale shooter is currently in Chapter 3 Season 2, but the game's next season is set to kick off with a huge robotic brawl. The end-of-season Fortnite event Collision was officially announced back in May, and starting today fans can finally go toe-to-toe in their own giant robots.

While Epic Games constantly expands the Fortnite experience through updates and events, the game's ongoing development is broken up into Chapters and Seasons. The start of Chapter 3 Season 2, subtitled Resistance, brought with it a plethora of new movement options like sprinting and mantling. A new armored battle bus vehicle was added to Fortnite, too, and Marvel Comics legend Doctor Strange was made available as a magical skin. Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 will soon conclude with the Collision event, which will apparently let players pilot their own robotic mechs to engage in massive mechanical battles. A Twitter teaser hinting at Fortnite mechs was released in May, and starting today players can finally participate in the one-time event.

As announced by Fortnite via Twitter, the end-of-season Collision mech battle event will go live today at 4PM Eastern Time. While little is known about the event's actual gameplay, a short teaser suggests that groups of players will be able to cooperatively pilot giant robots to launch them into battle. The event will also bring an end to Chapter 3 Season 2 and ring in the start of Season 3. Giant robot battles will only be available in Fortnite for a limited time so players should plan to jump into the Collision event when it starts today, June 4, at 4pm Eastern Time.

Fortnite fans are no doubt gearing up for the Collision event's mech battles, but a certified robot menace was recently added to the game too. A Fortnite Obi-Wan Kenobi skin was added to the battle royale shooter on May 22 to commemorate the Star Wars legend's new Disney+ series. The Clone Wars general, who trained Anakin Skywalker and survived the deadly Order 66, was brought to Epic Games' battle royale shooter along with some gear like a Blade Pickaxe and Jedi Interceptor Glider. Droids should beware, since Obi-Wan's addition to Fortnite sees him join other Star Wars icons like Rey, Boba Fett and Kylo Ren.

The Collision event promises to cap off Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 by letting players pilot their own giant mech and battle others for mechanical supremacy. Exact details about the event are currently unclear, but it appears that multiple players will be able to join forces and use their enormous robot in battle royale combat. Players can experience the end-of-season Fortnite event starting at 4PM ET on June 4.
