The big finale of Fortnite Chapter 2 has come to a close, giving fans a proper send-off to Apollo island and the evolving storyline. Fortnite has essentially been reinventing itself with its "chapters," adding new mechanics and content that dramatically change the game. Chapter 2 gave the game a graphical overhaul and added new mechanics like swimming, fishing, and more. The event sent everything out with a bang thanks to a giant boss fight that featured UFOs and lasers.

Epic Games has been hyping up Fortnite Chapter 3 for quite a while now, and for good reason. The game has drastically evolved over the last several years with new gameplay mechanics, crossover events, and even concerts with artists like Ariana Grande and Travis Scott. For something that started out as a tower defense game and then a free-to-play battle royale, it's a massive evolution, and it's only going to get bigger.

The Fortnite Chapter 2 finale sent things out with a bang. As seen in a livestream on the official Fortnite YouTube channel, the End event featured a battle against The Cube Queen with UFOs, giant monsters, and much more before transitioning into a cutscene with Jonesy being interrogated by Slone. Jonsey was then saved by The Foundation and as many have speculated, the Fortnite character is played by The Rock. Following an epic shootout, players were teleported down to a bunker to find Jonesy and The Foundation in an underwater room.

A monster then flooded the room, forcing the player to swim to the surface where they could see Apollo island being flipped upside down, revealing an all new island on the other side which will presumably serve as the setting for Chapter 3. A wave then knocked the player unconscious before leaving them stranded out in the ocean. As of the time of writing, the event ended with the player hanging on to a piece of wreckage in the ocean and a button prompt to exit back to the menu.

It's likely there's still more to come as fans are still waiting for the official Fortnite Chapter 3 trailer. The trailer already leaked and allegedly confirmed that the likes of Spider-Man will be joining the fight with proper web-swinging mechanics. The leaked trailer also confirmed that tornadoes, sliding, and other new gameplay features will also be coming to Fortnite, but fans are still waiting for more official details. Given Epic is staying quiet across all of its social media feeds despite the massive finale, some believe the event may continue later, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
