Reportedly, Epic Games plans to add various vehicle mods to Fortnite, including car-mounted guns, in a future update. The title in general has received a host of new additions of late. This month alone saw Epic introduce Fortnite crossovers for iconic characters like Predator, Terminator, and Sarah Connor.

The Predator content in particular provided Predator-themed rewards for overcoming Jungle Hunter quests. Epic added a skin set for the character, too. But not every aspect of these additions has been hunky-dory. For example, Predator's cloaking device is a point of contention amongst fans, particularly for those who believe the device feels far too overpowered. Fortnite's recent Terminator add-ons have become the subject of controversy as well, specifically due to mixed messaging about the Cyberdyne Salute emote and the T-800 skin. Players were initially led to believe the emote would come built into the skin; however, Epic later revealed both were sold separately. Now the publisher is issuing free refunds for the T-800 skin.

If details from notable Fortnite leaker HYPEX prove accurate, it's possible Epic's future plans may further divide the community. In a recent Twitter post, HYPEX claimed Epic intends to unleash car attachments such as mounted guns. Other car modifications will apparently come in the form of new tires, each boasting separate mods for dirt, grass, road, and durability. The leaker's post doesn't feature additional details; thus, there's no clear timeline for when Epic will supposedly debut these fresh features.

Some fans seem to think a potential car attachment update with mounted guns will significantly expand upon the fun factor. Meanwhile, others are of the mind that such additions may add little more than unneccesary bloat to the experience. It could go either way, though. Akin to the Joy Ride update that brought cars and trucks into the mix, vehicle-mounted weapons could spice things up by providing another layer of variety and challenge. But, as always, the above claims should be taken with a grain of salt, as Epic remains mum on the topic.

Since Fortnite's battle royale mode first took the world by storm a few years ago, Epic has continuously found ways to keep players engaged. Crossover events with beloved characters from licensed franchises have obviously been a bright spot for many a fan; the same goes for concerts and movie night events. Gameplay mechanics and the corresponding opportunities they provide, of course, keep regular players invested. Who's to say another jolt via car-mounted guns won't further increase the quality of the experience?
