The monstrous Carnage has arrived in Fortnite as part of the game’s Chapter 2 Season 8 Battle Pass. The battle royale title has seen plenty of Marvel guest stars over the past few years, with the most recent one being Shang-Chi's Fortnite skin, released ahead of the character's cinematic debut in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Comic book fans are all too familiar with Cletus Kasady, the deranged serial killer who was empowered by an alien symbiote to become a deadly enemy to both Spider-Man and Venom in the early '90s. Since then, Carnage has appeared as a boss in several Spider-Man games (with some of the best-remembered being Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage for the Super NES and Sega Genesis), and Woody Harrelson is set to terrorize the silver screen as the nightmare-inducing archfiend in the MCU film Venom: Let There Be Carnage. It now looks like Carnage is making a quick stop in Fortnite to build up his body count ahead of his theatrical premiere.

Earlier today, Epic Games released a new trailer for Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 8 Battle Pass on the official Fortnite YouTube Channel. Among the new character skins shown off in this ominous teaser is Carnage, who demonstrates his Carnage Harvesting Tool on some interdimensional enemies with a tentacle attack pulled straight from the comics and the upcoming Venom sequel. However, players will have to put in a considerable amount of effort to unlock him, as the Carnage skin only becomes available at Level 90 or by claiming 90 Battle Pass rewards. Other playable skins included in Fortnite’s Season 8 Battle Pass include the demon hunter Charlette, IO agent Kor, an anthropomorphic unicorn named Fabio Sparklemane, and Toona Fish, a stylized black-and-white cartoon character that players can add color to with various customization options.

Carnage will be joining his longtime nemesis Venom, who was introduced to Fortnite last year during Chapter 2 Season 4. Previous leaks for Fortnite Season 8 have hinted that players will also be able to ride creatures from another dimension as mounts in the newest Battle Pass, likely a result of the new interdimensional threat known as “The Cube” that has risen in the wake of Season 7’s alien-busting ending.

With Cletus Kasady and his alien-infused alter-ego set to make their big-screen debut in Venom: Let There Be Carnage next month, the introduction of Carnage’s playable skin in Fortnite is very well-timed. The Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 Battle Pass is now available to purchase from the Epic Games store in either a full paid version or a free trial edition, meaning that it won’t be long before Carnage begins his reign of terror on The Island.
