Some Fortnite players are running full-service gas stations in-game. The battle royale’s newest update implemented cars and other vehicles to the game, and players must keep cars fueled to continue driving them. On top of the implementation of different vehicles, recently data mine found that Fortnite may also be teasing Marvel’s Thor as a playable character. These additions coupled with the game’s Tenet Easter Egg hinting at an upcoming event, and fans could be in for a treat for the rest of this season.

Alongside the game’s updates, Fortnite has also created Party Royale, the less deadly variant of its several activities, in which Epic Games hosts concerts and other lively social events. The game’s addition of Party Royale proved its value with the innovative and highly successful Travis Scott concert, which allowed Fortnite players and Travis Scott fans to tune into the musical event in-game. Fortnite's social features have sparked a trend other games are replicating, including Minecraft. However, many Fortnite players still make time to bring their social nature to the main battle royale mode.

Capitalizing on the new implementation of new cars, Redditor STNDReality posted a video showing that some Fortnite players are running full-service gas stations in-game. The clip features a player driving their car into a gas station protected by a player-built structure. Once they pull up next to a fuel pump, another player rushes towards their car with a small fuel canister and fuels up their vehicle before sending them on their way. Commenting on the experience, STNDReality said, “Excellent service, 10/10 would fuel up again.” Check out the video below:

Fortnite is one of the games heralded as an innovator in the battle royale sphere. As it grows, it continues reinventing itself with new features and somehow managing to implement realism in the smallest of ways, which is a stark contrast compared to the core of its over-the-top gameplay and vibrant graphics style. The game’s mayhem makes the assistance provided by other, random players anomalous, but gratifying when it occurs.

Gamers are fantastic at finding new ways to come together, utilizing functions in games to create their own trends, which inevitably get replaced by another trend in future updates. Players acting as fuel pump attendants in Fortnite is just one of thousands of ways gaming communities role play. This sort of in-game interaction is a far cry from how Fortnite is intended to be played, but it’s also indicative of the lengths to which gamers will go to be innovative, even if their innovation is nuanced.
