The next hero to join Fortnite's extensive roster of Marvel characters is none other than deadly Russian assassin Natasha Romanoff (better known as Black Widow), as she will be the featured skin for the third round of the Marvel Knockout Super Series. This is an ongoing tournament series in Fortnite that rewards the highest-placing teams with early access to Marvel hero skins.

Two of the four preliminary rounds for the Marvel Knockout Super Series have already come and gone, and each round introduced a new hero to the world of Fortnite. The first tournament in October featured Daredevil, and the second round featured Ghost Rider. The top placing teams for each tournament were gifted early access to that round's featured hero skin before it became available to purchase. These teams will also move on to compete in the 5th tournament with a grand prize of $1 million.

Today, Fortnite tweeted another teaser image for the Marvel Knockout Super Series featuring the silhouette of who could only be presumed as Black Widow. The caption to the image was a series of emojis that depict Black Widow's iconic emblem as well as a spider. The tournament will be open to everyone in teams of three and will take place on November 11. Like previous events, the top-placing teams will gain access to the Black Widow skin before it hits the item shop at a later date.

Like Daredevil and Ghost Rider, Black Widow will receive her own skin set, complete with back bling, glider, and pickaxe, and victors of the tournament will be the first to claim her iconic look, free of charge. It would be cool to see her glider or back bling be a giant black widow spider, but it'll likely be high-tech spy gadgetry. Her pickaxe, however, will almost undoubtedly be the electric staff batons that she famously wields in her comics and Avengers film adventures. While she isn't the most super of heroes as far as superhuman ability goes, players will likely gravitate towards her skin since female characters are more popular with professional players.

So far, Marvel's Fortnite season has been fairly male-heavy in the hero department. Storm, She-Hulk, and Mystique were brought to life in Fortnite at the beginning of the season, but since then there haven't been any new female characters. Black Widow is a predictable choice, as her character has a solo film on the horizon and she has been in every Avengers film over the past 10 years. However, the Marvel universe is filled with interesting female characters, from Jean Grey to Captain Marvel to Spider-Gwen. Black Widow tends to pale in comparison to characters with supernatural abilities, but it's a start.
