New weapons have been added to Fortnite chapter 2, season 3. With every new season, the metagame switches up in favor of providing new content for players. Older weapons are put back into the vault, while newer weapons are placed front and center. With this season's theme being resistance, it's important to find the best weapons to defend against the IO invasion. While there is no guarantee for players to know where they can find the best weapons, it's important to know which ones to hold on to.

For Fortnite chapter 2, season 3, a handful of items were also put in the vault, meaning they are no longer in play. This includes the Flare Gun, Machine Pistol, Sticky Grenades, and the fan-favorite Spider-Man Web-Shooters. It's an item that allowed players to shoot webs at surfaces and use them to swing around. The Web-Shooters were an excellent traversal tool with both casual and competitive appeal. With Spider-Man headlining the last season's Battle Pass, it makes sense why its removal would happen. Now, the best new gear is entirely different.

Out of all the season one weapons, the Thermal Scope Assault Rifle and the Drum Barrel are arguably the best. With the Thermal Scope, players can see enemies highlighted with a white glow. This makes it much easier to land successful shots from a long distance. As for short-distance combat, there's nothing quite like the Drum Barrel. It's a classic weapon that will do a ton of damage in close-quarter situations. Aiming for the head has the potential to knock down an enemy in a single shot. In addition, they have the chance to appear on the ground or by opening up Fortnite's treasure chests around the map.

The best chance the player is going to have at collecting these weapons is by landing in Named Locations. These are typically heavily populated but for good reason. Many of the buildings within these Named Locations feature treasure chests with valuable loot. Although, the first thing players should do when landing is to grab the nearest weapon. Those first few seconds in Fortnite are vital as what loot spawns randomly. If they're lucky enough to find the Drum Shotgun, keep it and upgrade it throughout the match. It will be the player's best tool.
