The new Coral Castle POI in Fortnite has finally been uncovered and it is exactly what fans were expecting. Fortnite's water level has lowered over the past few weeks leading up to the reveal of Coral Castle. Fans speculated the POI would be Atlantis due to the season 3 crossover with Aquaman, and they were right about everything but the name.

On July 1, a patch for Fortnite was released containing information regarding a new underwater location. Data miners were able to retrieve this information along with a time frame in which the POI would become available. July 1 also marked the first day that the water levels in Fortnite began to lower, and over the next four weeks the water would continue to subside revealing more and more lands to explore. The leak also claimed that the POI would be called The Ruins.

One month later and the new POI is here, except under a different name. Coral Castle is the newest addition to Battle Island, and it very obviously features large coral plants and a castle. Fortnite has yet to announce the reveal of this new POI, but players who log in can find it located at the top of the map north of Sweaty Sands.

Coral Castle is Fortnite's representation of Atlantis, and it fits perfectly with the waterlogged theme of the season. Fortnite season 3 has also seen a crossover with the king of the sea, Aquaman, so players expected to see a POI accompanying his debut. This would have mirrored the release of Deadpool in season 2 when he took over The Yacht, which remained a Deadpool themed location for the duration of the season. However, the release of Coral Castle came a few weeks after Aquaman and seemingly has little to do with the aquatic superhero.

The POI has more to do with Fortnite season 3's storyline than it does Aquaman. Season 3's map started almost fully submerged with the only POIs available being ones built on floats or at a high elevation. This was due to the event that took place at the end of season 2's storyline. The water receding is a sign of Battle Island stabilizing after The Device went off, and what better way to tie the story together than to reveal an underwater palace. It won't be long now until Fortnite season 3 comes to an end, and the end of season event is sure to make a splash.
