Fortnite is coming back to iOS thanks to NVIDIA's GeForce NOW. The waitlist is currently open for the limited-time Fortnite closed beta for mobile on GeForce NOW, despite Fortnite not being one of the named games in GeForce NOW's recent leak. The beta will allow players to experience the new touch-control version of Fortnite for mobile, all delivered through the cloud. The GeForce NOW streaming experience will allow players to enjoy Fortnite on iOS Safari and Android mobile devices, without the need for a controller or mouse and keyboard, thanks to on-screen touch controls and game menus for mobile devices.

Fortnite has been absent from Apple's App Store and the Google Play Store for 17 months, unfortunately for those fans who enjoy playing Fortnite on their phones. Many were disappointed at the news that Apple had blacklisted Fortnite, meaning Fortnite won’t return to the App Store for several years, or at least until court proceedings conclude. Thanks to GeForce NOW, players will once again be able to access Fortnite on iOS Safari & Android devices. While access to the closed beta isn’t guaranteed, Fortnite players can look forward to the mobile version of Fortnite becoming available to all GeForce NOW members in the near future.

NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW is a cloud-based game streaming service, similar to the well-known but less popular Google Stadia. NVIDIA’s game streaming service has also encountered its fair share of issues. Shortly before Microsoft announced its $7.5 billion acquisition of ZeniMax, Bethesda’s parent company, all Bethesda games were removed from GeForce NOW. At the time, some thought it signaled the decline of GeForce NOW, however, the platform has continued to flourish since. GeForce NOW allows members to stream games directly to their devices in real-time. GeForce NOW’s library already includes the desktop version of Fortnite, however, the mobile version will be optimized for mobile devices, with touch-screen controls allowing players to use their phone as a controller.

NVIDIA's GeForce NOW Offers RTX 3080 Gaming For Fortnite

GeForce NOW Is Finally Bringing Fortnite Back To iOS and Android Devices Closed Beta

NVIDIA first introduced support for GeForce NOW on iOS Safari in late 2020. For the first time, GeForce NOW members could play their favorite PC games on iPhone and iPad, through the iOS Safari web browser. GeForce NOW offers three membership tiers, with an entry-level Free tier that allows members to enjoy an hour-long gaming session, with standard access to GeForce NOW’s gaming servers. The paid membership tiers offer premium gaming rigs with RTX enabled, longer gaming sessions, and priority access to gaming servers. Gaming on an RTX 3080, which makes the 2080 look last-gen, is exclusively available to the top tier of membership, along with a higher maximum display resolution, up to 120 FPS, and 4K support.

Fortnite fans can look forward to enjoying Fortnite on iOS devices soon, thanks to NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW streaming service. Signing up for the Fortnite closed beta doesn’t require a GeForce NOW membership, but members will get priority on the waitlist. Players eager to get access to the closed beta should register soon, and consider joining GeForce NOW to increase their odds. When GeForce NOW for iOS first launched, NVIDIA promised it would bring Fortnite back to iOS users after Apple cut Epic off from iOS, and the closed beta proves NVIDIA is working on turning that promise into a reality.
