Another day, another leak, and this time the leak centers on the previously teased Alien crossover in Fortnite, a crossover whose Ellen Ripley and Xenomorph cosmetics are now making the rounds online. Just yesterday, Epic Games shared a cryptic video on Twitter that seemed to boast heavy hints of Alien content for Fortnite.
The clip in question ran only 36 seconds long, but packed a world of interesting details. For example, the video's male speaker dated the technology on a spaceship he boarded back to 1986 - the year in which James Cameron's Alien sequel released in theaters. Arguably more interesting is the title of the speaker's recording, "Reality Log 426." Fans were quick to note that 426 could serve as a direct reference to LV-426, the moon on which Hadley's Hope was founded. This locale is also notable for being inhabited by a Xenomorph colony. Thus, all signs pointed to Alien following in the Predator's footsteps in a Fortnite crossover. Now it seems the speculation can come to an end.
An image leak via Twitter user AltynbekHD shows an off-screen shot of Ripley and a Xenomorph in Fortnite key art. Two additional images from Fortnite dataminer PeQu Leaks feature somewhat closer looks at the Ripley and Xenomorph cosmetics. Though each picture features a unique caption, PeQu Leaks claims both "descriptions will be different" once the content actually goes live.
It's worth acknowledging that the Ripley picture has the character's name spelled incorrectly, but the shots themselves seem legitimate. As always, however, fans should take all of the above with a grain of salt, at least until Epic Games officially confirms the crossover is indeed in the works.
Many a Fortnite player patiently waits for the studio to confirm a lot more than the now eagerly-anticipated Alien content. Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 is expected to launch sometime next month. Datamined details and speculation indicate a major event may close out Season 5, akin to the Zero Point reveal that unleashed chaos at the tail end of Season 4. As of writing, though, Epic Games remains mum about what the next big update will entail. When fans can expect to receive a bit more clarity is anyone's guess.
Fortnite is available to play across Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Android platforms.
