It almost seems like every day there is news of a celebrity couple calling it quits. When it comes to working in Hollywood or other areas of the entertainment industry, people often struggle to hold together their relationships due to the long days spent apart working on movies, TV shows or concert tours. With so many days and weeks spent apart, it is no wonder that Hollywood couples can't seem to make their relationships work. However, while many Hollywood couples go their separate ways but they remain friends -- knowing that it was their jobs that drove them apart -- there are others whose relationships explode, and the two do their best to avoid each other in the future.

That is not easy in Hollywood. With top actors fighting for the best roles, when a couple is no longer on speaking terms, and their relationship is volatile at best, that limits options when reading for parts and often forces filmmakers to make tough choices if they both end up trying to star in the same movie. With so many high profile Hollywood names at one time in romantic relationships, here are 10 former Hollywood couples who now avoid each other and 10 who are still close.

ANDREW GARFIELD AND EMMA STONE - STILL CLOSE

Like many Hollywood couples, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone got together while starring in a movie together. The film in question was The Amazing Spider-Man, which saw Garfield playing Peter Parker and Stone portrayed his love interest, Gwen Stacy. The shooting of the movie took place in 2010 while Stone was dating Kieran Culkin and Garfield was dating Shannon Woodward (Westworld). Stone split up with Culkin and Garfield ended his relationship and the two were seen together two months later. While rumors ran wild, their relationship was not confirmed until almost a year later -- in 2012.

In 2015, Stone and Garfield split up -- for the first time. Photos and tabloids kept connecting the two all the way into 2017, with it seeming they were on again and off again for two full years. According to This Insider, the two Hollywood stars still had strong feelings for each other and remain dear friends, but the timing just wasn't right for them to actually date. As soon as May of this year, the two were still close friends and spending time together, laughing and smiling while in the other's company. Either they are getting back together or they are proof that former Hollywood couples can still be close friends.

BRADLEY COOPER AND ZOE SALDANA - AVOID

Bradley Cooper broke out thanks to the R-rated comedy The Hangover in 2009, even though he had been working as an actor in Hollywood for a decade. Before his star-making turn, Cooper had dated some of Hollywood's most prominent leading ladies, including Cameron Diaz, Renee Zellweger, Olivia Wilde and Jennifer Lopez. However, in 2012, Cooper met and started dating Zoe Saldana. The two ended up together for just over a year -- although they broke up twice before finally ending their relationship for good.

Cooper has had little to say about the past relationship or the breakup, but Saldana had to lot to say -- just without dropping Cooper's name.

Right after the breakup, Saldana told Marie Claire that she doesn't have room in her life for men who have disrespected her and she has no desire to be friends with those men. She also said that there is a reason they are called an "ex" and she has now crossed them off her list. Interestingly, the former Hollywood couple were in two of the biggest superhero movies of the last few years in the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, but Cooper voiced Rocket Raccoon, so they only needed to spend very little time together while making the Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

COURTENEY COX AND DAVID ARQUETTE - STILL CLOSE

Possibly, the cutest relationship in Hollywood occurred when Friends alumni Courteney Cox started to date the awkward, yet extremely talented David Arquette. Seeing the beautiful Cox, who later appeared in her own TV show Cougar Town, dating the man best known to many fans as Deputy Dewey from the Scream franchise seemed too strange to be true. However, the couple, who met while making Scream, mimicked their characters -- Gale and Dewey -- and they fell in love.

The Hollywood couple married in 1999 and were married for 14 years, their marriage resulting in one child -- a daughter named Coco. However, the couple announced their separation in 2010 and finalized their divorce in 2013. Arquette ended up marrying again in 2015 and Arquette had two more children. Cox has been dating Snow Patrol singer Johnny McDaid since late 2013 and announced their engagement in 2014, although they have yet to tie the knot. When talking to E! News in 2016, Cox said that she and Arquette were such great friends but ended up living different lives at the end of their marriage. While the intimacy wasn't there anymore, the two remained close friends, and she said they are good "co-parents together."

JOHNNY DEPP AND AMBER HEARD - AVOID

There are also those Hollywood couples who end up shattered beyond repair and that is what happened between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Depp had been married once in the past, divorcing in 1985 and remaining unmarried for 30 years, although he was in a 14-year relationship with Vanessa Paradis. For Heard, it was her first marriage, although the actress -- who was 22 years younger than Depp -- had dated a number of men and women before she finally married the actor in 2015.

Depp actually started dating Heard in 2012 after splitting up with Paradis. He had met Heard when they shot the movie Rum Diary together in 2009, and the new couple ended up engaged to be married in 2014. The two married in February 2015 and then filed for divorce in May 2016. Heard filed a restraining order against Depp and the two had a bitter and hateful divorce that ended with Heard getting a $7 million settlement and donating it all to charity. The two never reconciled. Amber Heard went on to date billionaire Elon Musk for a year, while Johnny Depp has mostly kept out of the public eye outside of his high-profile acting jobs.

FERGIE AND JOSH DUHAMEL - STILL CLOSE

Most people know Fergie from her days in the band the Black Eyed Peas while Josh Duhamel cashed in with his role in the Transformers movie series. The two met when the Black Eyed Peas had a cameo in 2004 on the NBC television series Las Vegas, in which Duhamel portrayed a member of the security team of a high-stakes casino. The two hit it off because they started dating at that time and after three years, they finally got engaged. The two married in 2009 and had their first child in 2013. Things came to an end in 2017, when the couple split up and filed for divorce.

There was no bad ending to the marriage though, as Fergie explained to Entertainment Tonight that the two just grew apart and the romance was no longer existent in their relationship.

However, while the romance was gone, Fergie said that she and Duhamel were "great friends" and that they have a love for each other.

She also said that they are still close and still have fun together as friends, just not as a romantic couple anymore. As the parents of a son, she said that they are family to each other to this day and the only thing that changed was that they are no longer married to each other.

ZAC EFRON AND VANESSA HUDGENS - AVOID

From 2006 through 2008, one of the hottest celebrity couples -- at least for the teens at the time -- was High School Musical stars, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. As Troy and Gabriella, the two fell in love on and off the screen and were in the public eye as a couple more than they were individual. They met when shooting the first film in 2005 and started dating quickly. It was a great relationship while it lasted, as well, with the two a couple until 2010. According to reports at the time, their relationship just ran its course and their careers going in different directions is what drove them apart.

Since their breakup, Efron has gone on to become a star in some major Hollywood movies and dated model Sami Miro for two years. Hudgens movie career hasn't been as high-profile as Efron's, but she maintains a steady line of work. She has since dated actor Austin Butler since 2011. When it comes to the former High School Musical stars, Hudgens told Access Hollywood Live that the two no longer speak to each other at all, ending the hopes of fans everywhere for a reconciliation for this former Hollywood couple.

LADY GAGA AND TAYLOR KINNEY - STILL CLOSE

Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney

Lady Gaga, the award-winning pop star who most recently starred in the FX television series American Horror Story: Hotel was involved in a long-term relationship with Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney. The two met in 2011 when Kinney starred in the Lady Gaga music video "You and I," and the actor said there was chemistry from the start. The two exchanged numbers, and within weeks, they were dating, finally revealing it to the general public five months later. Four years later, Kinney proposed to Lady Gaga and she accepted.

Sadly, just over one year after proposing to Lady Gaga, the pop singer broke off the engagement and the two split up after five years of dating. In her Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, she said she was fighting with Kinney at the end and blamed her own career ambitions for what she referred to as her love life imploding. Luckily for both fans of Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga's little monsters, the two seem to have remained close friends. When appearing on the Howard Stern Show, Lady Gaga was asked about her relationship and breakup with Kinney and said that they love each other and remain completely supportive of each other.

JESSICA SIMPSON AND NICK LACHEY - AVOID

The entire world watched Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey get married and then watched them try to make their life work as newlyweds. The two were musical stars, Simpson with her career getting started and Lachey hugely popular as part of the boy band 98 Degrees. The two met in 1998 and started dating a month later. There was a split shortly after that, but they reunited and got married in 2002. That is when the world really got to know them thanks to the reality television show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. While this is standard reality television now, at the time, it was groundbreaking. It also didn't help their relationship.

Three years after their marriage, and with the entire world watching thanks to a TV show, they divorced.

Both seem to be in a better place, with Nick married to Vanessa Minnillo, the couple having three kids, and Jessica married to former NFL star Eric Johnson with two kids of their own. As for the former reality TV stars, Lachey said in an interview with Jenny McCarthy that they don't speak at all anymore and are not even friends, although he said there is no animosity -- "just kind of nothing."

DEMI LOVATO AND WILMER VALDERRAMA - STILL CLOSE

Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama are very much a product of their time. Instead of releasing an official public statement or doing an interview, the two chose to announce their breakup to their fans on Instagram. From the start, it seemed like an amicable split, as Lovato wrote that it was a "difficult decision" and that the two are much better as friends. She also said that they will always support each other, and that has turned out to be true.

The Hollywood couple began dating in 2010 when the former star of The '70s Show began to date the singer and future reality TV judge on X-Factor met while shooting a public service announcement calling out Latinos to vote. The two had a huge six-year relationship, one that Lovato told Us Magazine had helped her reach sobriety -- all thanks to the support of Valderrama. Lovato's mother told People that her daughter was who broke it off and she knows that Valderrama still loves her and comes around sometimes, where it seems nothing has changed. She also said that the two are still "amazing friends" and she has hope that one day they might end up back together once again.

ETHAN HAWKE AND UMA THURMAN - AVOID

Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke in Gattica

Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman were an It Couple back in the '90s. The two met while making the movie Gattaca and started dating shortly after that. Thurman had already broken out big time thanks to Pulp Fiction and had just starred in Batman & Robin while Hawke had become an indie darling after appearing in Reality Bites. They married in 1998 and remained married for seven years. This was Thurman's second marriage, her first to Gary Oldman who was 32 while Thurman was only 20. It was Hawke's first marriage, and the two had a pair of children.

The divorce occurred due to Hawke cheating on Thurman. While it was mere allegations at the time, Hawke since admitted to Mr. Porter's magazine that he should not have married so young and then went on to say that monogamy is not natural and people shouldn't be so "indignant" about faithfulness. That interview came eight years after Thurman told Oprah Winfrey that she was "mangled" following that marriage and that she can hardly talk to Hawke because of how their marriage ended. Thurman said they talk because they have kids, but there is too much "damage and baggage" to ever reconcile.

HEIDI KLUM AND SEAL - STILL CLOSE

Seal and Heidi Klum seemed like a match made in heaven. She was one of the world's most successful supermodels, and he was an award-winning singer, his most successful song being "Kiss from a Rose" from the Batman Forever soundtrack. The Hollywood couple began dating back in 2004 after he released his fourth album Seal IV and she began to star as the host of Project Runway. The two married in 2005 and welcomed a child into the world that same year. The couple even renewed their vows every year of their marriage and ended up with three children of their own and one that Seal adopted.

However, seven years after their marriage, it all came to an end. In 2014, the couple finalized their divorce. While the rumors at the start indicated that Seal had a bad temper and partied too much, Klum later softened her stance and told Redbook that his busy schedule as a musician, traveling all the time, kept him away from the family and they just grew apart. With that said, Seal appeared last year with Klum on America's Got Talent, where they looked happy to be together and seem to remain friends after the divorce.

ALEC BALDWIN AND KIM BASINGER - AVOID

Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger

Kim Basinger was one of Hollywood's most glamorous leading ladies, starring in everything from Batman and The Natural to L.A. Confidential. Alec Baldwin was trying to kickstart a Hollywood career as well, with hits like Beetlejuice and The Hunt for Red October, but his career seemed never to take off until his later years while Basinger started to fade back and became more of a supporting actress than a leading lady after awhile. In the middle of this, the two Hollywood stars tied the knot in 1993 and shared a nine-year marriage. However, as things proved when they divorced, it was not a match made in heaven.

The Hollywood couple met while making the 1990 movie The Marrying Man and married three years after that.

However, according to Basinger, there was abuse, and according to Baldwin all the judges and lawyers involved in their divorce were "corrupt, inefficient, lazy, stupid." Baldwin had to go to anger management therapy and claimed that Basinger was not allowing him to speak to his daughter. The entire fight was horrific, and the two broke on very bad terms, although Basinger said things are "cool" now that she has moved on and gotten away from the "bad boys."

ORLANDO BLOOM AND MIRANDA KERR - STILL CLOSE

Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom

When Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom began dating Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr, they kept it quiet for almost a year. The relationship actually began in 2007 and finally made their first public appearance together in 2008. They became engaged in 2010 and, much like their original courtship, married without any fanfare or announcement. In 2011, they welcomed their first child into the world but then in 2013 announced that they separated and planned to divorce and finalized it later that year.

Since that time, Bloom has dated pop singer Katy Perry while Kerr married billionaire Evan Spiegel, the co-founder of Snapchat. However, despite the divorce and the two moving on in other relationships, they remain the best of friends. In an interview with The Edit, Kerr said that they needed to divorce because they "weren't bringing out the best in each other." Bloom agreed and said that they chose to remain close after the divorce for the sake of their child and that they are both in a good place now, while Kerr said in an interview with People magazine that Bloom is "like a brother" to her now, calling it "very weird."

BEN AFFLECK AND JENNIFER LOPEZ - AVOID

The only person on this list twice is one who has one Hollywood ex that he avoids and another that he has remained close to. When it comes to Ben Affleck, he was one of the brightest stars in Hollywood in the '90s when suddenly his entire career crashed around him. The biggest problem for Affleck was that his blockbuster movies suddenly found themselves overshadowed by the term "Bennifer" based on his relationship to pop singer and actress Jennifer Lopez. The Hollywood couple became so big that fans turned on Affleck at the box office, his career slamming to a stop after the two starred together in two movies -- the critical bomb Gigli and the Kevin Smith father-daughter flick Jersey Girl. The curious thing was that Lopez actually passed at the start of the Smith movie.

The two ended their relationship after two years and it took Affleck longer than that to finally rebound in Hollywood. The relationship had been over for 13 years when The Mercury News reported that the two still have anger issues concerning their past relationship, Jennifer Lopez saying the entire ordeal left her feeling "eviscerated" and Ben Affleck blaming the relationship with J-Lo for his career slump.

BEN AFFLECK AND JENNIFER GARNER - STILL CLOSE

10 Former Hollywood Couples Who Now Avoid Each Other (And 10 Who Are Still Close)

While it took a long time for Ben Affleck to recover in Hollywood, he was able to recover much quicker in his romantic life because he began dating Jennifer Garner the same year he broke it off with J-Lo and then married Garner one year later. The two seemed very happy together and remained married for the next 12 years. However, things went south for them when Affleck admitted to alcohol abuse and the two filed for a divorce. They have three children, and that has kept them close despite the filings. Affleck began to date again, going out with Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus, although his divorce with Garner is still not finalized a year later.

Interestingly, the entire family dynamic is still whole despite the divorce filings and the fact that Affleck has a new girlfriend.

People reported just this year that Affleck spent Easter with Garner and their three kids in Hawaii, and they were getting along great, and all seemed happy together, and this is all with Shookus visiting Affleck in Hawaii as well. It was also reported that Affleck is still working on his treatments for his addiction and Garner is there to support him every step of the way.

BRAD PITT AND ANGELINA JOLIE - AVOID

10 Former Hollywood Couples Who Now Avoid Each Other (And 10 Who Are Still Close)

In what seems very strange, after Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie filed for divorce after what most fans thought was 12 years of a near-perfect marriage, Pitt now appears ready to go back to his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston -- who herself just left her second husband, Justin Theroux. Why this is strange is because Pitt and Aniston was the perfect example of a former Hollywood couple who avoided each other completely after their divorce. However, it now looks like Pitt and Aniston are becoming close again, while he and Jolie are no longer close at all.

People reports that Brad Pitt is still in communication with Angelina Jolie - because they have six children - all who live with their mother. The reason for the separation was because of Pitt's alleged alcohol problems, and Jolie claimed she felt fear for their children as a result. However, as one positive, Jolie said that they refuse to "hate" each other, but it is clear they are not friends at all anymore. It sounds like this is all due to keeping things good for the kids although there are new rumors that she is not happy at all to hear that Pitt is possibly reuniting with Aniston as the long-running divorce proceedings continue.

GWYNETH PALTROW AND CHRIS MARTIN - STILL CLOSE

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

Honestly, if there is one former Hollywood couple that has proven that they can remain close friends following their split, it is Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Grammy Award-winning musician Chris Martin of Coldplay. The two met when Paltrow got to go backstage at a Coldplay concert in 2002, and the two started dating shortly after that -- Martin saying that Paltrow was his first real girlfriend. The couple married one year later and had their first child in 2004.

It really seemed like the perfect marriage, lasting 13 years before they finally divorced, citing irreconcilable differences two full years after the actually separated. The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Paltrow and Martin did not consider it a divorce, but a "conscious uncoupling." However, they remain close and the best of friends. They still take vacations together, spend holidays with each other, and even talk about how great their life together is now that they are apart. Paltrow has said that, while no longer married, they are still like family -- although she added that her ex-husband is like a brother to her now, but also lets everyone know that he is a great father to their two young children.

LINDSAY LOHAN AND SAMANTHA RONSON - AVOID

To say that Lindsay Logan has had an interesting life is an understatement. She started out as a very promising actress with a large number of significant films to her name including the cult favorite Mean Girls. However, in 2006, her life began to fall apart. She was hospitalized a number of times and started to party excessively. She spent time in rehab on multiple occasions and ended up in jail more than once. During all this time, she also began to date DJ Samantha Ronson.

Their relationship lasted from 2008 into early 2009, and it was -- according to Lohan -- a "toxic" relationship. Lohan told Us Weekly that the two loved each other, but they were never really right for each other. However, while Lohan said in that interview that they were still friends, they are far from that. Lohan spoke to Piers Morgan and said the relationship was just an "experience" and that really didn't go over well. When Ronson heard from TMZ in 2016 that Lohan was considering getting married, she didn't seem happy and said that she might DJ it, but it would cost Lohan a lot of money -- clearly showing she wanted nothing to do with her ex.

BRUCE WILLIS AND DEMI MOORE - STILL CLOSE

Demi Moore has been married three times in her life -- two of them extremely high-profile Hollywood relationships. After her first marriage to musician Freddy Moore when she was just 18, Moore then married Hollywood megastar Bruce Willis in 1987. The two remained married for 13 years and had three daughters before they divorced in 2000. In 2005, Moore then married That '70s Show star Ashton Kutcher, who was 15 years younger than her, and that marriage lasted for eight years. Interestingly, while Moore and Kutcher are no longer as close after he allegedly cheated on her before their divorce, she is still close to Willis.

Willis was there when she married Kutcher and seemed supportive from the start. Part of the reason they remained so close is that they chose upon their divorce to co-parent their three children -- Rumor, Scout and Tallulah. Willis even attended the wedding of Moore and Kutcher, and they often posed together on red carpets years after their marriage came to an end. Rumor Willis spoke to Larry King in 2015 and praised both her parents for giving her and her sisters a stable family environment, even though the two divorced in 2000 when she was only 10.

TOM CRUISE AND KATIE HOLMES - AVOID

The divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes shook the entire Hollywood landscape. Cruise had already been through two high-profile Hollywood relationships when he married and divorced both Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman. However, the divorce from Holmes was one that was sudden and swift -- and according to the New York Times -- "calculated." The couple had been married for six years when Holmes one day took their child and went on the run. It wasn't really Cruise she was running from though, as the reports say she was trying to get their child Suri away from what she feared was the grasps of the Church of Scientology.

The two divorced and worked out a settlement in 2012 and have seen little to nothing of each other since. Cruise remains a very busy star in Hollywood, trying to help launch the Universal Monsters franchise with The Mummy and also continuing to make Mission: Impossible movies. Meanwhile, Katie Holmes is raising their daughter by herself, and it seems that this former Hollywood mega couple is doing everything in their power to avoid each other entirely, with Holmes saying that her child is the most important thing in her life now.
