The next season of For All Mankind will take place 8 years after the season 3 finale. With the alternate Earth's timeline now in 2003, Helios and NASA have successfully founded permanent colonies on Mars. However, in season 4 their mission has expanded far beyond mere settlement and exploration. While colonization and exploration were central to Helios Aerospace, NASA, and Roscomcos's goals in previous seasons of For All Mankind, season 4 will see the foundations laid by these scientific endeavors turning to a more productivity-focused mission.

With the Happy Valley Mars colony still in its infancy, humanity has technologically advanced to a point that makes mining asteroids and other astrological bodies a possibility. This will be a key plot thread in the next season of For All Mankind, as the resources and minerals available in the vastness of the Milky Way could change the fate of both Mars and Earth.

For All Mankind Season 4 Trailer

The first teaser trailer for For All Mankind season 4 arrived from Apple in September 2023. The unique promo was formatted like a recruitment video for Helios, encouraging prospective employees to join them for a new life on Mars. The teaser also came with a brief story synopsis.

Rocketing into the new millennium in the eight years since Season 3, Happy Valley has rapidly expanded its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners. Now 2003, the focus of the space program has turned to the capture and mining of extremely valuable, mineral-rich asteroids that could change the future of both Earth and Mars. But simmering tensions between the residents of the now-sprawling international base threaten to undo everything they are working towards.

While the season 4 teaser was brief at just over a minute in length, and didn't give away too much in the way of plot details, it effectively establishes the tone (and timeline) for when For All Mankind returns to Apple TV+ in November 2023. The first full-length trailer for For All Mankind season 4rovided a better look. This trailer, at 2 minutes long, established several important plot points, but more importantly, revealed that life on the Happy Valley Mars colony isn't as pleasant as the name suggests.
