In the beginning of June, we got our first look at the upcoming film by Matthew Santoro, titled Offline. The movie is a personal project for Santoro for which he’s directing, editing, composing, producing, writing and doing the cinematography for. Heck, he even hand-built some of the costumes using whatever materials he could find.
That trailer for Offline was loaded with cool special effects, paying tribute to Santoro’s background as a visual effects artist on major films such as the latest two X-Men movies, 300, the Fantastic Four sequel and the more recent Aliens vs. Predator flick.
Matthew was kind enough to send me the latest clip, titled ERROR_26, which hints more at the style of the movie and plotline of the protagonist. Check it out!
The first and most obvious observation to point out is that the entire video is from the first-person perspective of who we can assume is the main character.
In Screen Rant’s previous post on Offline, we included the synopsis and here is a segment of that referring to Maro, the main character:
Those like Maro who are physically and mentally gifted enough are transformed into counter-terrorism soldiers. His memories are erased. His body is enhanced. His humanity is destroyed. Maro has become the perfect weapon.
I dig the use of the first-person view in this video. It’s entirely different than what we saw in the trailer and I’m curious to know how much of the movie is shot in this way. The beginning gun sequence was cool and I hope to see more of that.
Here is another video from a few weeks back which is a 30-second video about INFINET - Check out the amazing special effects:
The more I watch the trailer and this video, the more I appreciate all of the little details, effects and sound that make this something unique and original.
What do you think of the latest Offline video?
As soon as we find out more on this, Screen Rant will let you know!
