Future updates for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach will address known performance issues and bugs, according to word from developer Steel Wool Studios. A departure from previous FNAF entries, Security Breach takes place in a mall for a single night of horror instead of the franchise's titular "five nights" of chaos.

As the 13th installment in the long-running series, the latest Five Nights at Freddy's title seemed primed for a few changes here and there. Not everyone agrees that such efforts were for the best, however; in fact, Security Breach now counts as the lowest-rated FNAF adventure to date in terms of user reviews. Yet, it's worth noting that many a fan has expressed their enjoyment with the updated graphics and free-roam gameplay, with performance errors sitting at the forefront of myriad online complaints related to Security Breach. It doesn't seem beyond the realm of possibility, then, that Steel Wool Studios can alleviate these problems with a fair few post-launch patches.

A blog post on the Steel Wool Studios website addresses the performance issues plaguing Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, making it clear that developers plan to rectify all troubles to the best of their abilities. The post, specifically, outlines four different areas of interest, one of which concerns framerate hiccups connected to visual settings. While the team works on "adding a check for that" in a future patch, some users may find it helpful to reboot their game after applying visual changes. Other larger framerate dips come as a result of Security Breach's load time hiding system, which will demand lots of testing before an update can go live. Steel Wool additionally noted that shipping Security Breach on PS4 in time required the studio to cut corners on the texture resolution front. While a fix for this particular matter is already underway, it, too, warrants extensive QA testing. Lastly, the team intends to address PC disk size once all of the above is sorted out.

As of writing, there's no word on when the above-mentioned fixes will go live for players. That two of the four points of interest require substantial periods of evaluation suggests it could be a while before FNAF: Security Breach's next major patch is ready for primetime.

Steel Wool Studios and publisher ScottGames deployed Security Breach earlier this month on PC and PS4. The road to release wasn't a smooth one by any measure, given its two delays and the retirement of creator Scott Cawthon amid backlash surrounding his political donations.
