Players of FNAF: Security Breach have dubbed Map Bot the game's scariest and most terrifying character, despite him not being one of the title's biggest foes. FNAF: Security Breach is the first AAA Freddy's game, introducing new characters, lore, and an all-new Pizzaplex through which players can traverse freely, unlike previous FNAF games.
FNAF: Security Breach continues to evolve the Five Nights at Freddy's canon, with the addition of new animatronics, bots, and the Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex location. Characters in the game match the 1980s aesthetic of the arcade pizzeria, with new animatronics including Glamrock Freddy, Glamrock Chica, Roxanne Wolf, and Montgomery Gator. Along with new animatronics come new bots, with S.T.A.F.F Bots found through the Pizzaplex. One of these is Map Bot, designed to hand out maps to lost patrons. In a recent developer update, Steel Wool Studios revealed that FNAF: Security Breach's Map Bot caused problems for the studio, presenting lots of bugs for developers to eradicate.
Across social media, players of FNAF: Security Breach are sharing their horror at Map Bot, with many calling him the game's most terrifying character. In tweets and stream clips, users have been sharing the scariest Map Bot jumpscares from themselves and others, demonstrating how effective the surprise-bot scare really is. Map Bot is the source of just a few of Security Breach's jumpscares, despite being a fairly well-meaning bot. Map Bot doesn't harm the player, and can't alert other animatronics to their presence, but instead will provide lots of terror while trying to encourage players to take a map.
The Five Nights at Freddy's games are well-known for their jumpscares, which continue to make them a popular choice for content creators to stream and react to. While FNAF: Security Breach changes the FNAF formula in its gameplay, style, and features, Steel Wool's decision to include some jumpscares helps keep the title true to the franchise without becoming too repetitive.
