Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach features plenty of the franchise’s most familiar faces, including Freddy Fazbear and Chica, who have been given new Glamrock forms for Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex. This new installment in the series also introduces a number of new characters and animatronics, like Roxanne Wolf and Montgomery Gator. However, fans were quick to notice that some of the series’ core animatronics were missing from this new Fazbear Entertainment location, particularly Bonnie the Bunny.

According to the in-game messages that Gregory receives on his Fazwatch, Monty replaced Bonnie as the Glamrock band’s bassist, gaining a brand new set of claws that allowed him to play bass. However, the actual reason for Bonnie’s decommissioning and replacement is a mystery and is only alluded to in subtle hints throughout the game. As such, many players have begun to speculate about what happened to Bonnie and why Monty replaced him in FNAF: Security Breach, even suggesting that it’s possible that Monty killed Bonnie to take his place. With Bonnie’s significance in the franchise’s lore, as well as the importance of the other bunnies that appear in FNAF: Security Breach, it’s safe to assume that his absence and replacement carry some weight as well.

Bonnie is first referenced in FNAF: Security Breach when Gregory sees Vanny skipping past the recharge station he and Freddy are hiding in, at which point Freddy will remark that there isn’t a bunny in the Pizzaplex anymore. Later on, players discover the Bonnie Bowling area, where Freddy admits that he no longer visits this part of the mall due to the fact that he misses Bonnie. Freddy won’t say anything else about what could have become of Bonnie, leaving players to piece together theories from the messages found on the Fazwatch that report on Bonnie’s activity and location with clues from FNAF: Security Breach's true ending.

Why It's Possible Monty Killed Bonnie In FNAF: Security Breach

Based on the information in FNAF: Security Breach's Fazwatch messages, it seems that Bonnie began exhibiting strange behavior, leaving his green room unexpectedly to wander around the Mega Pizzaplex. At some point after that, he was put out of commission, and Monty replaced him. Management was optimistic about Monty’s popularity at the time and had high hopes for him becoming even more popular than Bonnie. However, another report suggests that Bonnie was missed by the Pizzaplex customers, who apparently asked about him frequently enough to prompt employees to ask for an official response from management regarding his absence. It’s unlikely that Bonnie was kept out of commission simply because of Monty’s growing popularity since there was clearly demand for his return, leaving the real reason for his replacement unanswered.

Since Monty replaced Bonnie in FNAF: Security Breach as the Glamrock band’s bassist, many fans have begun to question whether or not Monty killed or attacked Bonnie in order to take his place. Monty exhibits more violent behavior than the other animatronics in the game and makes a habit of being destructive, and according to a security report Gregory finds on the Fazwatch, it’s possible that Bonnie was last seen in the Monty Golf area of the mall before being put out of commission. This report is titled “MISSING: SECURITY REPORT,” which implies that Bonnie did, in fact, go missing when it was filed. Additionally, in the Monty Golf AR-Cade machine, the final stage features Monty as the band’s lead and Freddy in a dumpster, which could suggest that Monty is competitive with the other animatronics and would be motivated to take Bonnie’s place in the band.

What Happened To Bonnie In FNAF: Security Breach?

Burntrap is the final boss of FNAF: Security Breach's True Ending.

It's likely that FNAF: Security Breach's Bonnie mystery goes even deeper than robotic band drama. As players progress through the game, it becomes clear that Vanny has been hacking into the Pizzaplex’s computer systems, making her responsible for the animatronics’ erratic and violent behavior. Freddy, who has escaped her control, insists that the other animatronics wouldn’t behave this way otherwise and says that he considers them to be his friends. Bonnie and Monty could have been under Vanny’s influence at the time of Bonnie’s decommissioning, which would not only explain Bonnie’s sudden strange behavior but would also suggest that Bonnie’s disappearance could be related to something more sinister.

Vanny, however, is not acting alone and is herself under the influence of William Afton, the franchise’s overarching antagonist and the founder of Fazbear Entertainment, who has taken the form of Glitchtrap. It’s possible that Vanny used Bonnie or his parts to resurrect William Afton as Burntrap, the boss of FNAF: Security Breach’s true ending. At the end of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, William Afton’s previous physical incarnation, Scraptrap, was apparently trapped in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place when it was burned to the ground. This is the same building that players find beneath the Pizzaplex in the game’s true ending, though it seems to have survived the fire from the end of FNAF 6, implying that Scraptrap may have survived as well.

Still, there are a number of inconsistencies between Scraptrap and Burntrap that suggest that at least some of his parts may have come from another source. Scraptrap is notably missing his left arm, whereas both of Burntrap’s arms are intact. Upon closer inspection, Burntrap’s endoskeleton has the components of a Glamrock endoskeleton, and while the two aren't an exact match, it’s possible that Bonnie’s endoskeleton may have been utilized in the creation or repair of Burntrap’s body, allowing William Afton to return to a physical form after manipulating Vanny as the Glitchtrap virus.

The details are sparse at best, making it difficult to piece together a full narrative of what became of Bonnie in FNAF: Security Breach’s Mega Pizzaplex. However, based on the evidence provided in the game, it’s possible that Vanny could have either lured Bonnie to the Monty Golf area or taken control of him to move him there, then used Monty or the S.T.A.F.F bots to disassemble Bonnie and use his parts to repair or build Burntrap. With Bonnie out of commission, Monty replaced him as bassist with his new set of claws, and management never brought Bonnie back after the incident occurred. While this is entirely speculative and isn’t confirmed in-game, the theory provides a viable explanation for Bonnie’s mysterious absence as well as William Afton’s gruesome return in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.
