The Flight Attendant season 3 remains likely, even as star Kaley Cuoco has been cast in a new show. Based on the novel of the same name by Chris Bohjalian, the adaptation premiered in November 2020 on HBO Max. The Flight Attendant season 1 followed Cassie Bowden (Cuoco) as the titular flight attendant. Regularly exhibiting reckless behavior and struggling with alcoholism, Cassie wakes up in a Bangkok hotel room next to the dead body of a man she’d slept with the night before. This horrific experience plunges Cassie into a whirlwind mystery, even as she has her own problems to contend with.

The adaptation quickly became a huge hit for HBO Max, ensuring that The Flight Attendant season 2 received a speedy renewal. The show’s second installment included an expanded role for supporting characters, a more wide-ranging mystery, and a memorable turn from Sharon Stone as Cassie's mother. But after The Flight Attendant season 2 finale wrapped up most of the show’s dangling plot threads, coupled with an ambiguous update from Cuoco herself, it seemed unlikely that the show would be back for a third outing.

According to Deadline, discussions are still being conducted over the possibility of The Flight Attendant season 3. It’s noted that series creator Steve Yockey is looking at potential story avenues for how the show could move forward and that it appears likely to happen. This news comes as Cuoco has joined a new comedic thriller for Peacock, though she has a deal in place that would allow her to return for any potential Flight Attendant continuation.

This news should relieve viewers concerned that Cuoco's new project meant The Flight Attendant season 3 was a no-go. Instead, this is one of the more promising updates since season 2 concluded. Cuoco's new deal indicates she is very much interested in returning to the HBO Max series as long as the story continues to interest her.

Cuoco, a three-time Emmy nominee, has had an impressively long run on television. Before her memorable role as Penny on The Big Bang Theory, she had stints on Charmed and the sitcom 8 Simple Rules. However, her role as Cassie for The Flight Attendant marked a heavily-praised evolution for the performer, earning her much acclaim. It makes sense Cuoco may not be ready to say goodbye to the show just yet. In many estimates, though The Flight Attendant season 2 started strong, it faltered entirely by the end with wildly implausible twists and endings that were a little too neat. Hopefully, if season 3 does happen, it will be a return to what audiences enjoyed in its initial run of episodes.
