Update: Watch The Flight Attendant season 2 trailer (featuring Sharon Stone) here!

The Flight Attendant star, Kaley Cuoco, has shared a picture with Sharon Stone, who will be co-starring in season 2 of the series. Stone, known for her work in Basic InstinctCasino, and most recently Ratched, will join the cast as Lexi, the mother of Cuoco's Cassie. The new season is expected to premiere on HBO Max this spring, with its first season available on the platform for streaming.

Based on the book of the same name, The Flight Attendant follows Cassie, the titular flight attendant, as she becomes embroiled in a murder mystery while dealing with her own personal issues. Though billed as a comedy, the series uses thriller and mystery elements, leading to a genre blend to tell its story. Teasers for The Flight Attendant season 2 have hinted at the growing personal problems and family drama for Cassie.

In a post on Instagram, Cuoco shares a picture of herself with Stone. In the caption, she expresses excitement that she can finally share the news of Stone's involvement as the show had previously kept the casting under wraps. She also candidly says that Stone will be playing her mother and shows love for her new co-star. See the picture below:

Cuoco, having initially become successful for her role on The Big Bang Theory, has appeared in a variety of projects, including the voice of Harley Quinn in the HBO series of the same name. She also gained her first Emmy nomination for The Flight Attendant, with the show itself being nominated for best comedy series. Along with Stone, the season 2 cast includes Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez, and Joseph Julian Soria in lead roles, with Cheryl Hines, Mae Martin, and Margaret Cho joining in recurring capacities.

The Flight Attendant has shown that Cuoco can deliver in more dramatic roles, having made her name in comedy. Long-running projects have a history of leaving actors typecast in roles they've been associated with for so long, and though Cuoco will always be associated with The Big Bang Theory, her work on The Flight Attendant and Harley Quinn proves that she won't be typecast in future projects. Cuoco herself is what led The Flight Attendant from a serious novel to a lighter dramedy, showing that her impact on a project speaks for itself. With all the twists and turns of the first season, The Flight Attendant season 2 is shaping up to be more just as memorable and fun.
