Warning: SPOILERS for The Flash #786The Flash family isn't all about speed, especially seeing as Wally West's son just displayed Superman levels of strength. Wally West's wife and kids have been getting the spotlight in The Flash title as the entire family continues to develop their powers. Jai West's latest skill—as shown to him by the Kryptonian Power Girl—puts him practically on Superman's level.

Speedsters, like the Flash, from across the universe have been integral players in the massive Dark Crisis event, and Wally West's immediate family has been at the heart of it all—including his twin children, Irey and Jai. Though lost to history during DC's New 52 era, Wally's wife and children were recently restored to continuity, including the twins' connection to the speedforce. While Irey, like her father, has superspeed, Jai, who calls himself the Surge, is unique among the Flash family: he has superstrength. Now both West kids, along with their father and mother, have teamed up with the Justice Society of America and other heroes in order to battle Deathstroke's army as part of a Dark Crisis tie-in.

Irey and Jai both use this massive battle as a way to hone their superhero skills in The Flash #786 by Jeremy Adams, Amancay Nahuelpan, Pete Pantazis, Jeromy Cox, and Justin Birch. In the midst of fighting actual Nazi zombies, Jai meets the JSA member Power Girl, who is Kryptonian and has close to Superman-level strength. When she discovers Jai has superstrength, she teaches him to thunderclap: clapping one's hands together with superstrength, causing a concussive force. Jai tries it out and immediately impresses Power Girl with his strength; they work together to keep the zombies at bay.

Power Girl and Jai West Team Up

Given the Flash family's exclusive experience with superspeed as opposed to superstrength, Jai hasn't gotten many chances to develop and train his powers. With only one Kryptonian showing him one thing his strength can do, readers are starting to get a sense of just how powerful Jai West—the Surge—could be. Power Girl is majorly impressed by Jai's display, meaning he very well could be close to Superman's level of strength—at the very least, he's as powerful as a Kryptonian.

As The Flash continues to focus on Wally West's home life and immediate family, hopefully Jai will get a superstrength mentor of his own, just as Irey gets speed tips from her father. Seeing someone like Power Girl help to train the Flash's son would be a welcome turn of events. Whether or not it turns out Jai West can actually take on Superman, his powers are growing faster than ever, and he deserves all the help he can get.
