A fan poster for The Flash casts Matthew McConaughey as the movie's antagonist, Reverse-Flash, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne's Batman. Unfortunately, the solo film for the titular superhero has been in production limbo for some time. With an original release date of early 2018, filming should begin next year, with a release slated for summer 2022.

The Flash has taken much longer than many other DC Comics films to get to production, as fans have already seen the releases of other solo films such as Wonder Woman and Aquaman come and go. A slew of creative changes plague the movie, as many directors and writers have left the project as soon as they joined. Ezra Miller, who is set to reprise his role as Barry Allen/The Flash, has been kept busy filming Warner Bros. Fantastic Beasts series. Though now, it seems that it's current director, It's Andrés Muschietti, is devoted to the project and has announced filming will begin in 2021, with more announcements about the film soon to come. Muschietti teased a bit about what fans will be in store for, claiming it will include elements from the popular DC storyline Flashpoint, but it "will be a different version of Flashpoint than you're expecting." For those unfamiliar, the comic book event saw the Flash go back in time to save his mother, subsequently creating an alternate timeline for the DC Universe.

In a recent post on Instagram, digital artist Bosslogic provided his rendition of a potential poster for the upcoming movie. The poster features Ezra Miller as the Scarlet Speedster, but it's the other two characters that come as a surprise - Batman and Reverse-Flash, who both play essential roles in the storyline. The poster features Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Flashpoint Batman - and it's important to note that Thomas Wayne is Batman in this timeline. Bosslogic also provides a fan-casting for the role of Eobard Thawne, aka The Reverse-Flash, as none other than Matthew McConaughey.

With news that the upcoming superhero adventure will follow the alternate timeline story, the Flashpoint Batman character will likely make an appearance, at least in some capacity. Since in this timeline, it is Thomas Wayne that becomes the Dark Knight rather than his son, it would be highly possible for Jeffrey Dean Morgan to reprise his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While as of now, there has been no formal discussion between Morgan and the producers, recent rumors say that Flashpoint Batman will be in the movie.

As for the possibility of McConaughey taking up the mantle of Flash's greatest villain, that is a little less likely. This casting choice was made entirely by the digital artist himself, and as of right now, there has been no public discussion as to who will be portraying Reverse-Flash. One must also consider the possibility that neither of these characters may even be in the film, and the poster will simply remain a fan's dream for what could be.
