FlashForward Brings On 3 New Showrunners

Three days ago we brought you the news that David Goyer is leaving FlashForward and today it looks like the powers that be are making it harder for the freshman series to lose anymore showrunners, as they’ve named three new ones to replace Goyer. Head writers Lisa Zwerling and Tim Lea, along with executive producer Jessika Borsiczky, have all been promoted to the showrunner position.

If we’re going to continue to talk about showrunners, especially if FlashForward continues to lose them, I figured that it would be nice to define it because I’m sure not everyone is up on TV lingo.

Wikipedia describes the term “showrunner” as,

…a term used in the Canadian and United States television industry referring to the person who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a television series.

And the great thing about Wikipedia is that with a couple stokes of the keyboard it now means… “someone who likes to exercise through television series.” (Gotta love the power of an open editing model.)

With so much news surrounding FlashForward, I continually wait for the day when it’s announced that ABC has decided to cancel the program. There’s no way that I can see this program successfully continue, but maybe ABC has invested enough money into it that they’re going to make sure it survives -- whether it deserves to or not.

Even if it does survive another season, there’s one thing that can be said for sure: FlashForward is not going to be the Lost replacement that ABC hoped it would be - but who knows, I could be wrong. Only time will tell... time and episodes. We haven't had an episode of FlashForward in quite some time.

With so much movement behind-the-scenes, do you think that this series will be able to make it another season? Is anyone still “into” this program? Can someone honestly say that we’re going to find out the “endgame” in the show's lifetime?

Unless something else happens, except to see FlashForward return on March 18, 2010.
