Warning: SPOILERS for The Flash: One-Minute War Special #1In a glimpse at one possible future for the Flash Family, Wally West's son, Jai West, shows off his sleek new costume. The real kicker is just how similar Surge's new look is to Wally's Rebirth-era Flash suit.

Readers can catch Jai's future look in the final installment of The Flash: One-Minute War Special #1 by Jeremy Adams, George Kambadais, Matt Herms, and Rob Leigh. The "Future" chapter of this event one-shot shows off Jai's costume and the full extent of his Speed Force powers.

The Flash's Son Jai West Shows Off a Maroon Costume with Pale Hold Lightning Accents

This short story proves beyond a doubt that Jai will learn to control his strength and Speed Force powers—which earns him a spin on a classic Flash costume. Jai—also known as Surge—wears a deep maroon bodysuit with a partial cowl that lets his hair be free. The lightning accents, which cross his chest like a double Flash symbol, are pale gold.

Jai's Future Look Is Reminiscent of Wally West's Rebirth Flash Suit

Wally West in His Maroon Red Rebirth Flash Suit

Jai's story takes place many years into the Flash Family's future, where the Fraction have once again set their eyes on Earth. Meanwhile, in the pages of the main Flash title, Wally West and his allies—including his immediate family—are just discovering the kind of threat the Fraction can be: an alien empire that siphons the Speed Force for their own colonial needs. In this "Future" snapshot, Jai mentions how, in the "present" events of One-Minute War, he was completely frozen in time, partially because he didn't fully understand how his body actually used the Speed Force. If this story (as well as a different look into the future from earlier in this Flash run) is anything to go by, Jai will eventually have no problem using his powers to their fullest effect.

So it's no wonder that Jai West has earned a new costume—and one that looks so much like his father's Rebirth-era Flash costume, which is one of Wally's iconic looks. Like Jai's, the Rebirth Flash suit is a deep maroon full bodysuit with a partial cowl, which itself is reminiscent of Wally's original Kid Flash costume. While Jai has pale gold accents, Wally's Rebirth suit has silver accents, including his distinctive Speed Force lightning trail.

The similarities between these two suits are striking, and it's a touching way for Jai (and the creators of One-Minute War and this current spectacular Flash run) to honor one of his father's most memorable eras as the Flash. Though Wally West was missing from DC continuity for many long years, the continued focus on his family, especially Jai and his developing powers, makes up for that loss. If Jai West's future costume and powers are anything to go by, the Flash Family is stronger than ever.
